Three-Year-Olds Could Dominate in Seabiscuit Handicap

Seabiscuit Handicap (G2)
$200.000
DMR – 1 1/8M Turf
Three Year Olds and Upward

With no clear favorite in the Seabiscuit, it’s worth taking a look at the three-year-olds in the field. The only entrant in this field coming in off a win is three-year-old colt Carnival O Wow, with back-to-back wins, one in allowance company and the other in the $30.000 OK Classics Turf. Earned a career high 101 SRF in the latter. He looks to be peaking at just the right time for this race – worth watching.

The other three-year-old in the field, Dropped Call, has been performing very well this year until his last start where he finished tenth and last his first time over yielding turf. Should do better in the DMR sunshine.

The older horses in the field are looking to get back on track.

Here’s the field:

1 Dropped Call
Owner: Threshold
Breeder: Gdp Inc
3yo Gelding
Wgt: 118

Only off the board twice in seven starts in 2016. One came last out in his first graded attempt. It was also his first attempt on yielding turf, so it may be one to just throw out. SRF numbers aren’t that strong, but he put in a big effort winning the $100.000 Robellino Stakes for PA-breds at PEN two starts back. Front-runner, so a clean break from his inside post is essential.

2 Carnival O Wow
Owner/Breeder: Oval Express Farms
3yo Colt
Wgt: 118

Scored a 101 SRF winning the $130.000 OK Classics Turf last start. Big step up, maybe too big. Goes without shadow roll this time.

3 Royal Sevens
Owner: Sizing Europe Lodge
Breeder: Kopites
5yo Gelding
Wgt 121

Won the Whittingham (G2) in May, but after a seventh place finish in the United Nations (G1), he was inactive for three and a half months before his last start, a tune up in allowance company at SA where he finished fourth. Hoping to get back to top form here.

4 Five Daddy Darling
Owner: Night Rider Stables
Breeder: Quintis Racing
6yo Gelding
Wgt 119

Won the $100.000 LA Legends Turf for LA-breds in July, and followed that up with a second place finish in the AP Million (G1). Strongest SRF numbers in the field with three back-to-back triple digit figures between May and August. Finished way up the field in his next two starts, both G1s. Another one looking to get back on track.

5 Swamp Fox
Owner: Blushing Meadows
Breeder: Running Bear

Won the Fourstardave Handicap (G1) in August, but has looked flat in his last three starts, including an eighth place finish in the BC Mile (G1) less than a month ago.
