I had a feeling this one was going to be wide open, and sure enough… Threshold takes the win as Terra Command seems to have found her stride, making it two stakes in a row, and three of her last four, showing her versatility at distance or surface. The Lightning City Stakes becomes her tenth lifetime win, getting the five furlongs in :562 and leading them under the wire by a half-length at 7/1 odds. Fire Tech, the post time favorite, did the heavy lifting, setting the pace to the lane, but couldn’t hold off the winner while taking the place for Ajm Stables. It was another length to the South Shore entry, with Hitch A Ride in third, then a half-length to his stable-mate, Lannys All In fourth. Only two lengths covered the field in this hotly contested sprint.
