BC Juvenile Fillies Turf
1 Mile on Turf Grade 1 – Purse $1,000.00 For Fillies Two Years Old
Keenland Race Course – Lexington, Kentucky
Breeder’s Cup 2026 is upon us and there is no other event in horse racing quite like it. I can remember back to the early days of the BC when my older brother told me about the concept of a “Super Bowl” of horse racing. I can also remember in those early days, before the internet and computer gambling, going to Hollywood Park and Santa Anita to bet the card in the morning and then rushing home to watch the races on ABC Sports. Back then, you walked into the track like any other race day and sat just about anywhere, now with social media the whole event is a circus atmosphere with every seat, every bench, on a pay to be here basis. People who don’t know what end of a horse to goes to the bathroom all now have an opinion. Good for the game, but I suppose a nuisance in a way to the daily on-track players. In our world, here at HRP this event is the crowing jewel for the best of the best and for those getting their horses to be at concert pitch for a single run that will put them in the record books forever. Good luck to all of this year’s combatants. My first assignment of the weekend is as much a throwing darts play as any on the card. Predicting two year old fillies on the turf over a distance of ground might be the most unstable stage of them all, but chin up, let’s take a look and try to give some betting guidance worth investing in.
Simple B from Maxmillion Farm goes against normal handicapping for a BC race in that she has only two starts, however, her trainer has been proficient on turf over his career and this filly ran a monster last time, closing into slow early fractions while traversing a distance of ground for the initial time in stakes company, after breaking her maiden at first asking also going two turns. She is short coupled at 15.3, but not tiny. Drawn perfectly in the middle while retaining the jockey that piloted her to that second place stakes finish over this course last time. As with anybody else in here, there is really no telling how good, or how long any of these gals careers will end up being. Certainly, there is no way to fault this gal other than to hang that hat on her lack of experience. With the perceived price most likely available Friday for her I am willing to take a shot as all exotic wagers in this particular race should be about as good as it gets. All Your Sisters from Mo Mentum Farms comes out of gate three Friday and should fall into a good tracking trip here. Her best number earned fits this context and the possibility of a war in front of her looms large with a full ensemble going postward. She will probably still need a boost in her late kick, but the return to turf should do the trick and when glance handicappers look down at the last debacle her odds will rise and that alone is a solid reason to add her to your exotics. She is a better horse than that last race would indicate. Yosemite Fear from Mb Stables is one of three entries for the country’s perennial top barn. She has route speed and shows the best last race number of this group. She sits in third place here in regards to money earned so far and that indicates that she is most likely her barns top dog in this particular fight. The fear is that she looked to be in cruise control late last time, but there is really no way to know how much was left in reserve. Big fields like this produce races that are often run at swift early fractions because of positioning tactics. You also have horses on the handicapping outside looking in and that also spells war up front. This race has enough elements onboard to have the distinct possibility of such a war, so if her same tactics are used she will most likely need further improvement to score. That is a possibility, obviously, but the price might not be good enough given her resume and her barns normal attention at the windows. Composure, also from Mb Stables, draws the rail and is simply too sharp to not include in my top four. She has never run a bad one, but will need a pace war in front of her to unfold as well as a clear passage through late. Those factors are enough to insist on getting more value than that of her more accomplished stablemate. It is interesting that she gets her fifth different pilot for this assignment in as many starts. Paco will need to learn her quickly and push the button at exactly the right time to gain the best possible outcome.
Of The Rest;
Silver Champ from La Canada Racehorses is my blowout longshot here. The number jump up when she went from sprints to a distance is significant, especially given the fact of the competition upgrade when doing so. From traditional handicapping she should be a big price, but if she is able to improve while working out a decent trip here, she could easily hit the lower rungs of deeper exotic wagers and that will be enough to light up the tote.
Steel Whisper from Bigchief Stables can’t be ignored based on her huge win in the $750 KD Juvenile Fillies while going two-turns for the first time. Lightly raced and looking for the front from post eleven means that she will again have to improve, but that could easily happen. Check the tote and look to see how on the muscle she is during the warm ups to gauge her chances further.
Indian Fatwa from Diablo Diablo can’t be ruled out here and should be included on all deep exotic tickets. She ran a big race closing in a sprint and then used the same tactics in her first going a distance of ground while winning a Grade 2 in the process. She should come out, move right over to the inside without any trouble and then come charging late. Obviously needs traffic problems to be at a minimum as she starts her run, but she retains her pilot from that last big run and since it was over this course you have to give her extra credence for this assignment. A victory is also not impossible to envision for those taking a stronger stance.
Its Yesterdays from Blazin D gets a good gate here in post number four and has run second in both two-turn turf races. She will close, but actually has enough natural gas to get tracking position quite comfortably if the pilot so choses. It’s a guessing game and an expected big price since she is winless routing, but her chances of hitting the board or superfecta are real.
Legendary Shark, also from Mb Stables was purchased for $85 and sent routing on turf where she ran third in both starts, earning a spot here. She received a nice draw starting from the two hole and should have no problems in the early going. Her last number fits and it has happened many times where a barns seemingly lesser entry outruns the perception and her more accomplished stablemates in the process. I have trouble seeing her winning this, but hitting the end of the superfecta and taking out most of the crowd in the process isn’t that much of a reach.
On The Contrary from Greyhound is the feel good storyline and the one that movies are made from. Taken for a mere $12.56 at auction, the lightly raced filly has earned her way here with three solid runs and earned $520.25 in the process. The barn is already way up on her purchase and now shoots for the dream. Her numbers fit, but her preferred style could be compromised. It’s certainly not out of the question that she could again overcome all obstacles, but demand some value, especially on the win end. Already a great story, a legendary one if she wins.
Unquenched, also from Bigchief Stables gets a poor post near the parking lot and her stablemate appears to be the better chance, however, this gal has sprint speed and has won going two-turns so she can’t just be tossed out. She will need everything to go her way and should pay handsome dividends if it does.
Pollard from Royalty Stables unfortunately didn’t get lucky at the draw and ends up on the far outside here for her Breeder’s Cup run. Her big win last time was no fluke, but the draw is a killer and with it she will need further improvement to overcome it. She has one of the best pilots in the country at the controls and he will need all of his skillsets and then some to land her in the winner’s circle here.
Autonomous from Nakamura Stables appears to want the front and even if she falls into it here will be under pressure all the way. Her numbers before her performance last time don’t fit and I am expecting her to get chewed up by the halfway point at the hands of more seasoned rivals. Her trainer is sharp, but will need to pull out all the stops for a placing here.
Local Forecast, also from Blazin D should be the biggest price on the board, especially with the draw here. Gate to wire going 2 furlongs as a maiden, then an off the pace win in a Del Mar stakes will have most handicapper’s scratching their heads. Her trip to the big apple was forgettable and that’s where most will toss her out. She is 16 hands, so she won’t get pushed around here. Not saying she is going to fire, or even that it’s possible for her to do so in this context, but if she does I can already hear the banter of after-the-fact handicapping and that is why this race is so tough.
AE List
China Cat from Jerry Garcia Racing has never ran a bad one in three lifetime starts, but also has yet to get to the winner’s circle. Would be a shocker to do so here from the outside gate and in this context.
Rare Allure from Noblepark is obviously versatile and so far has handled all things thrown her way well. This however would be extra tough from the outside, but not impossible to see her hitting the bottom of the superfecta with one late move from far back.
Cooperthehooper from Rock Creek has some talent but not enough showing to envision her as a threat here, especially with the outside draw and no two-turn experience, let alone a two-turn win.
The Loyal One, also from Nakamura Stables has been Scratched
