The Hurricane Bertie – Grade III
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Truly Deeply Madly Jive Inc. Landeros C
With just three lengths between first and last this race was always going to be won with a bit of luck, a good run and a horse that knew where the winning post is. Though this five year old had been mopping up lower grade races he certainly has been in the winning mood with 8 wins from his last ten races and got the perfect stalk before digging deep fro a game head win. It will be interesting to see how she backs up after this win over the BC champ Eros but things are looking good for her.
2nd Eros Smokey Stover Bravo J
Its been two defeats in a row now after she won the BC fillies and mares sprint but this was a much better effort than her last one and she may just be the sort that needs the sun on her back to be at her best.
3rd Four Left Feet Mb Stables Wilson E J
The draw was always going to be tough to overcome but she very nearly did it just being beaten a neck into third at the line. I like this filly a lot and this sort of run from a better draw may have seen her getting her nose in front rather than third.
4th You Just Have 2 Wait Estero Farms Lopez P
Beaten a half length and making a net loss is pretty much life as normal these days so whilst this may not have been a profitable effort from the four year old it certainly was noteworthy. She has shown enough improvement this year to stay in contention for all the big sprints going forward.
