Surprise, surprise!!  Cherokee Surprise, sent off at nearly 10/1 odds, pressed the pace throughout Saturday’s FG Stakes (GIII) and showed a great late kick on the turf course to score by a half length in a final time of 1:452 for the mile and an eighth, giving Twin Towers Racing the victory.  Multiple Shadows had the lead in the lane but could not hold off the eventual winner, nosing out Broomstick Dancer for the place.  Momentus was another neck back in fourth.

Cherokee Surprise is a bay 4yo gelded son of Dumbell Press – Lunar Surprise, by Another Gift, and he was bred by his owner, Twin Towers Racing, in NY.  This was his fourth win from fourteen starts and his first stakes score.  He now shows lifetime earnings of $210.950.

Cherokee Surprise broke in hand, track the pace throughout, up late, won driving.  Multiple Shadows broke alertly, pressed the leader, took over in the lane, could not go with the eventual winner late.  Broomstick Dancer raced mid-pack while tracking the leader, continued on well late, just missed the place.  Momentus was forwardly placed throughout, lost position in the late stages.  Mucho Baked gave an even effort.  Hollywood Hero was taken back, some late gain while no threat. B N Broadway even effort, outrun.  Sniper had one pace, outrun.  Secret Dream was never involved.  Bombastic Nobility broke alertly set the pace for six furlongs, stopped abruptly.  Just Chillin trailed throughout.
