It pretty much went to plan for this five-year-old starting well she pushed for the lead, but she was pushed hard and had to go through the first 2 furlongs in 21 and 4 which was always going to make that last half furlong a lung buster. Still a length clear with a half to run she began running in quicksand, and the post just came soon enough to see her hold on for a share of the win. This was a tough race and bearing in mind she had to go faster than she ever has to get to where she wanted, she was very brave in holding on at the end.

We all knew this mare would be storing home at the end and the strong pace certainly suited her. She made up a length in the last 100 yards but needed 101 yards to win and the post came just too soon. It was class that carried her through today and whilst she can be frustrating at times on her day, she can be very good.
3rd High Return Maxmillion Farm Smith M E 12.10 31/4 1:12.94
Third beaten a half-length in a stakes race at SA and she made $1.710 profit, it is no wonder horses as good as this are going to TUP to make more profit than they can at this level with very little investment. That aside she ran pretty well in her first start for the smidgen better, but you get the feeling she may just be a smidgen better over a little further.
4th The Black Water Arindel Hernandez J J 1.35 41 1:13.03
I mentioned that her grade three win looked good on paper but probably wasn’t as good as it looked and sure enough after stalking the fast pace she just couldn’t find enough breath to beat three of her rivals today. Beaten less than a length running in what is becoming the least favored place with this new race engine you can’t say she didn’t run her heart out and she is certainly consistent enough to carry on being a force at this level.
