There was no clear-cut favorite in Saturday’s El Camino… yeah, Rent Free was 3/1 (and finished fourth) but most of the horses in this one were bunched up, both on the tote board and on the track… that’s just how the finished, when seven lengths covers the field of twelve, it’s a fairly even match.  Back on point, D J C Racing Stables’ Venezia kept the girls weekend going, winning by a half length in a final time of 1:48.30 for the mile and an eighth stakes.  Good Guy closed well in the late stages but settled for the place, a head in front of the pace setting Wiggling Road.  As mentioned, post time favorite Rent Free was another three-quarters of a length back in fourth.

Venezia is a 3yo bay filly by Distant Sunset, Port Of Venice, by Command Attention, and she was bred here in Cal by her owner, D J C Racing Stables.  this was her second win, both over this track, and she now has lifetime earnings of $92.090.  Congrats to the connections!

Venezia second flight 2p to the top of the lane, split foes just inside the furlong marker, all out to the finish.  Good Guy rated off of the pace, split foes top of the lane, closed full of run, ran out of track.  Wiggling Road set the pace to the sixteenth marker, headed, could not go on.  Rent Free tracked the pace 3p clubhouse turn, drifted lane, nothing left.  Championship Rounds pressed the pace to the far sixteenth pole, flattened out.  Grande Foire rated well off of the paced, passed tiring rivals.  Closing Color was never a factor.  Palace Guard mid-pack early, wide trip, tired.  Neds Influence flashed early speed, tired.  War All The Time was outrun.  Family Ferro trailed throughout.
