1 Five Star Five, trained by D J C Racing Stables

A winner of last year’s Kings Bishop and a close sixth in the BC Sprint he has struggled just a little to get his nose in front since. His trainer has taken advantage of lenient handicap marks in route races recently but he showed he can still sprint in the Toboggan back in February when a game third. This is a tough experienced four year old who has proven consistent in all grades and most trips so you have to think he will give a good account of himself, my only concern is that he may have lost a little zip and may struggle to get the main prize here.

2 Impending Decision, trained by Night Rider Stables

Another that has mixed sprinting with route races to good effect he had the distinction of running five triple digit speed figures in a row up to February but has dropped off the boil in his two subsequent efforts. His last start in the Kona Stakes had decline written all over it and whilst you have to like the way his form reads it is tough to pick him with doubt in mind.

3 Wild Glory, trained by Paradise Stable

Won this race last year and has retained a similar form line since so must have a chance of doubling up today. This trip looks to be his favourite as he demonstrated when gamely winning an open allowance last time and whilst he has never really looked like a world beater he is an honest sort who will give you a big run for your money. Works ways he still looks sharp enough so if he breaks into a close stalk and gets a good trip you could do worse that put your money down.

4 Fast Review, trained by Sanny Village

A prolific winner of 12 from 22 he has only come to stakes class races late in his career. He caused some surprise when he managed to dead heat in The Bold Ruler handicap but has confirmed that win was no fluke since getting purse money in three grade threes. He seems suited by this trip and had Five Star Five a whisker behind in The Tobooggan so would have a fair hope on that form.

5 Revolutionary, trained by Night Mare Racing

A relatively lightly raced four year old he went through the grades before attempting graded class in his last race. That was in the Razorback Handicap where he ran second in the mud and whilst that was over a longer trip he proved he likes the seven furlongs at WO last May so the trip will hold no fears. He doesn’t look the strongest chance in the race but his works aren’t bad and he is by Charley Farley so it is hard to write him off completely.

SUMMARY

A tight little sprint race everything is in it with a shout but I think that Wild Glory may just have the edge.
