Viral Breakdown Upsets the Boys in The Smarty Jones

Well, I sure do have egg on my face… I didn’t even notice that Aer Stables’ Viral Breakdown was a filly in against the boys… evidently, she didn’t notice either.  Stalking the pace throughout, the bay filly motored right on past in deep stretch and took The Smarty Jones by a length here at OP.  She got the mile in 1:351 over the fast track, and at 7/1 odds, she was a bit overlooked by the public… not a surprise.  Kinch set the pace throughout, but could not hold off the winner, settling for the place and was two lengths better than Elix, back in third.  Copley, a rank 82/1 outsider took the minor money while 3/1 post time favorite Zero Darkness closed a bit in the late stages but was really not a factor today.

Viral Breakdown is a 3yo bay filly by Tragic – Conkerberry, by Greek God and she was bred by her owner, Aer Stables, in Fla.  This was her fourth win from six starts, now showing back to back stakes wins and she certainly should be the talk of the town after taking down the boys in this one.  Now showing $210.500 in earnings, I can only guess what her next hurdle will be… but you have to think she will clear it with room to spare.
