The Wilshire Stakes – GIII
SA Race 1 1M – Turf
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares
1st Walklikemydad, trained by Flamingg Moe
The first graded stakes win for this filly as she won from a stalking position and ended winning by three quarters of a length. I thought she had a chance to win but didn’t know I’d she was the best in the field but obviously she showed she is. She ran the mile in 1:33.75 and earned $60.000 for the win.
2nd Angies Copperhead, trained by Lions Racing
The recent claimer ran very well in here coming from out of the clouds to run second in her second career start on turf. I didn’t think she was good enough to run this well obviously and she definitely proved me wrong. She ran very well to finish second and should be better next out.
3rd Born From Mrs Z, trained by Mb Stables
A pretty good run from her too as the outside push made her go to the front and try to go gate to wire which is always almost impossible. She was the class of the field I thought going into the race and she still is probably after this pretty gallant effort. She will be better next time with a better post.
4th Sovereign Nation, trained by Paradise Stable
A deep closing finish from this fully as she came from dead last to only be beaten a length. She came flying for sure but was just too late but with another sixteenth of a mile she probably would have won the race. She ran very good but was too late with her charge and couldn’t get there in time.
Summary
A very good edition of this race this year as we saw Walklikemydad run a very good race to win it. She ran the best race of her life to this point and won her first graded stakes in the process. Angies Copperhead ran a good closing second but no one was going to beat the winner the way she ran.
