Big Upset in The Singspiel Stakes

                       The Singspiel Stakes – GIII
                         WO Race 1 1 1/2M – Turf
                               Purse $125.000
                         Three Year Olds and Up

1st My Plucky, trained by Hambletonian Stable

A pretty big upset here as the top two were defeated by this horse here. My Plucky ran a huge race in here to win by a length and a quarter under the wire from about midpack early on in the race. He ran the mile and a half in 2:27.63 on a turf course listed as good and earned $105.000 in the win.

2nd Compress, trained by Cherrytree Hill Farm

One of the two big dogs and he just couldn’t get the job done here as he couldn’t hold off any Plucky Late. He sat very close to the pace as they ran and got a length in front of the field at one point. He is a very good horse but I think the mile and a half was just a little too long for him as he should’ve held off the winner.

3rd Chrystal Pip, trained by Mb Stables

Well he didn’t win like I thought he would that’s for sure. It he didn’t run terrible either. He did get way to far behind as he was nine lengths back at one point. He came fast and hard but there was no way he was going to catch up unless he made an unbelievable run. If he was closer to the pace he probably win.

4th Locked Down, trained by Joshua Stables

This recent auction purchase ran very good in his first start for his new trainer coming from almost as far back as Chrystal Pip to run fourth. He was also just too far back to ever catch the winner but he still ran very good. He will probably be better next out with it being his second start for his new trainer.

Summary

Well it was a bit of an upset without the top two big horses winning. But give My Plucky credit he ran his heart out to take the win and beat Compress and Chrystal Pip. Compress ran very good but I think the race was too far for him really. Chrystal Pip just dropped way too far back to ever win.
