Warrior Chant Takes an Unbeaten Record in Risen Star Stakes

Risen Star Stakes – Grade II [KYD]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

1st Warrior Chant, trained by Sccj Stables
Priced at over 50 to 1 this win was a little out of the blue for punters. Off the speed early this homebred picked them up into the stretch and kept on very gamely for a nose win. He has been improving with racing but this is the first glimmer that he is a KYD hope and if anyone deserves the dream this trainer does. His next race will really tell us if he is a top notch chance in the big one although he may have enough points to squeeze into the field already.

2nd Noble Crusader, trained by Mb Stables
Beat the winner in the lecomt but lost his unbeaten record today going down by a fraction to his rival. This was a very narrow defeat so you cant write him out of the KYD field just yet and very few horses manage to maintain a win record for very long at HRP.

3rd Mr C, trained by D J C Racing Stable
Ran on really well for a very close third and it is nice to see his trainer with an emerging KYD hope. This was a better effort than his seasonal debut so the decision to geld him looks vindicated but he will have to try again to get the required points to get him into the big race.

4th They All Laughed, trained by Mb Stables
Fourth beaten only a half length is a well worn tale in these three year old races so it is impossible to write off many of these three year olds for future success. Taken back after a decent start he ran on strongly at the end and though his running style will always cause him problems e looks to have bags of ability.
