Wealthy B Wonka Turns Back the Field in the Violette

Wealthy B Wonka converted a front-running trip into his first stakes victory, controlling the Violette from the opening call and holding Gran Coffee Party safe by one-half length. Sent away at 3-1, the three-year-old gelding delivered the win for Mb Stables and jockey Saez L.

Wealthy B Wonka captured the $200.000 Violette for New York-bred three-year-olds on July 24, 2026, at Saratoga. Contested at 1 1/16 miles over firm inner turf, the race was completed in 1:39.45 after fractions of :23.2, :46.4, 1:10.1, and 1:39.2.

The victory went to owner and trainer Mb Stables, with Saez L aboard. Wealthy B Wonka earned his second career victory from 10 starts and added a stakes score after finishing third in the Pennine Ridge-G3 over the same course and distance in his prior start.

Gran Coffee Party followed the winner throughout and secured second, while Cracked Ginger advanced from the rear half of the field to take third. New Yorks Finest finished fourth by a nose over post-time favorite Empire Of Sod, with Suspended completing the order.

Yellowbrick Road was scratched.

The Running

Wealthy B Wonka established the lead immediately and carried a one-length advantage through the opening quarter in :23.2. Suspended followed in second, Gran Coffee Party held third, Empire Of Sod raced fourth, New Yorks Finest was fifth, and Cracked Ginger trailed the six-horse field.

The leader remained in control through the half-mile in :46.4, extending his advantage to two lengths. Suspended continued in second, Gran Coffee Party stayed third, and Empire Of Sod maintained fourth. Cracked Ginger advanced from sixth into fifth, while New Yorks Finest dropped to sixth.

Wealthy B Wonka continued to dictate the race through six furlongs in 1:10.1, holding a two-length lead. Gran Coffee Party moved past Suspended into second and became the primary challenger. Empire Of Sod advanced into third, Suspended fell to fourth, Cracked Ginger remained fifth, and New Yorks Finest continued in sixth.

Gran Coffee Party reduced the leader’s advantage through the final stage, but Wealthy B Wonka maintained enough separation to finish first. Cracked Ginger produced a late advance to secure third. New Yorks Finest also improved through the closing portion and edged Empire Of Sod by a nose for fourth, while Suspended weakened to sixth.

New Yorks Finest raced fifth early, dropped to sixth at the second call, and finished with a late advance to take fourth by a nose.

Empire Of Sod, the post-time favorite, raced fourth through the first two calls, moved into third after six furlongs, and then yielded fourth in the final strides.

Suspended followed the winner in second through the opening half-mile but lost ground during the latter portion of the race and finished sixth.
