1 Devil Wears Prada, trained by Axeman

Our first runner is a wily old veteran making her 41st career start. Her 2017 showed she is not finished yet as she won the G1 Gamely and ran a game 3rd in both the Beverly D and the BC Filly & Mare Turf. The race seems to have several horses that prefer to race on or near the lead so this one’s preference for closing may be an advantage.

2 Sassy One, trained by D J C Racing Stables

Went on an impressive 6 race winning streak at the beginning of 2017 which included the Grade 3 Lake George and Grade 2 Lake Placid. Was not able to break through when she moved up to Grade 1’s but just missed in her last when she lost by a nose in The American Oaks. Works are right in line with all the others and no reason she cannot be right there at the wire.

3 Lime Dancer, trained by Drabfantasy

Spent 2017 sprinting and her only win in 5 tries was actually in a dirt sprint. Has proven she can route in past years so the distance should not be an issue. Speed ratings are a bit lower than others and she seems to run best on the lead which may prove to be an issue in here. Certainly would not be a complete shock if she won but I will look elsewhere.

4 Blessed Dogma, trained by Mb Stables

Lightly raced filly has only been to the post 8 times winning twice. Was purchased for $85 at the end of December and ran a respectable 4th in her first outing for her new connections. She did see a change in tactics in that race as she was taken back where in the past she did most of her running on the lead. She does not have the resume of some of the others but with the sites best trainer and jock you cannot count her out.

5 Well Built, trained by Team 7 Illusions

This filly had a rather impressive 2017 finishing in the money is all 9 of her starts. She was purchased from Golden Stables for 257.77 when he decided to leave the game and promptly paid for herself by winning the Grade 1 QE II. With that win she found herself qualified for the BC Filly & Mare Turf where she went off the favorite and was beaten just ¾ of a length. Seems to be able to consistently find a perfect spot a few lengths from the lead and I do not think it will be any different today. Her only recent public works are 5F or less but if she is ready to go off the 3-month layoff she will be tough to beat.

6 Duracell, trained by TwinTowersRacing

Only able to find the winners circle once in ten tries for 2017. She seems to have lost a step lately as in her last race she went off at 3-5 in a four horse field and finished a dull third. I just do not think she is quite as good as a couple of these, so a minor share is probably her best hope.

Summary

As I mentioned in the horse previews I believe there are several front runners which should lead to an honest pace. I think Well Built can work out a nice stalking trip and as long as the layoff is not too much should be able to win.
