Shrewd claim indeed…  five races ago, Patterson Stables pulled the hostile takeover on What Theres More… since then, she’s turned into a personal ATM machine, now with three wins a second and a third from six starts for the conditioner.  Her latest cash-in was taking The Tepin at CD on Saturday, making every call a winning one, getting home by a half length in a final time of 1:333 for the flat mile, main track stakes.  Another former claimer, Twizt And Shout, the 17/1 outsider, made a race of it but had to settle for second, a length in front of Shake The Stick in third.

The field of six loaded quickly and as the bell rang, the gates sprung open and they were off and running… What Theres More on the early lead, Shake The Stick on the hedge, Twizt And Shout from the outside, Five Star Queen just in behind that trio, Audrey Hepburn and Galabella was the early trailer.

Around the clubhouse turn and headed down the backside, they had five furlongs to run and What Theres More showed the way by three-quarters of a length between horses, Shake The Stick up the inside, Twizt And Shout three wide, then a gap of two back to Five Star Queen, then a long gap back to Galbella and Audrey Hepburn.

Down the backside and not mid-way on the far turn, they had five-sixteenth’s of a mile to run and What Theres More had shown the way in this one, continuing to lead by a length.  Twizt And Shout still three wide and applying pressure, Shake The Stick rubbing the hedge and right in the thick of it, then a gap back to Five Star Queen, and two more back to Galabella, Audrey Hepburn on her flank and the trailer.

Into the lane, this was a two horse race to the finish, What Theres More by three-quarter’s of a length, Twizt And Shout trying to dig in and move up, Shake The Stick not going on with that pair… and a gap back to the rest… but this was a display of speed as What Theres More went under the wire in front by a half length.  Twizt And Shout was game but could not get tot he winner, taking the second spot, then another length and a half back to Shake The Stick in third.  Galbella was fourth, Five Star Queen fifth and Audrey Hepburn closed this one out.

What Theres More is a 3yo bay filly by Love In Charge – But Wait Theres More, by Five Spirits, and she was bred by Aml Racing in FLA.  This was her fifth win from ten starts, three of those wins coming this season, all for the new owner, Patterson Stables.  She seems to be getting better with every start and we should all look forward to her as we head into the big summer stakes.

What Theres More broke alertly, set the pace throughout, dug in late, won driving.  Twizt And Shout was forwardly placed while pressing the leader, battled through the lane but could not get to the winner in a game effort.  Shake The Stick pressed the pace from an inside position, could not stay with the top pair late.  Galabella raced evenly while no threat.  Five Star Queen was no factor.  Audrey Hepburn was outrun.
