When You Look at the Form, You Realize It’s Just A Game

The Just A Game – Grade I
BEL Race #5 1m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $500.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Bach In Tune Threshold Bahen S R

Not a bad sort but will find this mile short enough. She has run well from this draw before though so if she can stay close enough early on may still be around at the sharp end.

2 Diluted Mb Stables Tunon M

Mb Stables likes to take it easy on their four year olds when they have been big as three year olds and this grade one winner ran in a couple of allowances before heading to CD for the CD Distaff Turf Mile last time. The wide gate killed her chances and she ran poorly but it was such a bad run you have to ignore it in this race as she gets a cosey draw and is after all a grade one winner and place getter in the BC Fillies Turf. She could well win but she will need to find her old self to do so.

3 Proud Eights Estero Farms Davis D

Beaten just a nose in the CD Distaff Turf Mile she has been close a few times to breaking through into the big time and has become a very consistent filly if not a multiple winning one. A repeat of her last effort from this nice draw puts her very close.

4 Queen Commander TwinTowersRacing Centeno D E

The stable often sends out horses into big races that don’t look to have a chance on form but perform very well so whilst this filly doesn’t look good enough she may just surprise.

5 Lorraine Mo Mentum Farm Gutierrez Mario

A grade one winning three year old when she took the QE II Challenge Cup as a three year old she never really got back to that form after but hinted at a return last time out. The usual mass photo finish saw her just a head from the win and a nose from Proud Eights when third in the CD Distaff Turf Mile from a similar draw. She is an on pace type and if things go her way she will again go close.

6 Chai Mission Maxmillion Farm Garcia Mar

Its probably doing this filly a disservice to say she can only win this race in the wet because she has run some great races on a dry track too. But there is no doubt she grows a leg when it rains and whilst she could easily get in the first three i can only see her winning with moisture in the track.

7 La Terrifiant Our Athletes Velazquez J R

Arguably the best mare in training at the start of the year after she added the BC Fillies and Mares Turf to her trophy cabinet as a four year old after winning the BC Juvenile Turf as a two year old. She was a little disappointing in the CD Distaff Turf Mile last time but was only beaten a length from a sticky draw so it wasn’t bad enough to suspect the start of a decline. With the right run from this draw she will win, if the race engine decides otherwise it could be tenth beaten a length.

8 Bagina Chili King Stables Wilson E J

This Bagina has never been wet so we wont know how she goes on an off track and her form so far is just average so its hard to make a case from this wide draw. But there’s no such thing as a bad Bagina and she showed last year in the QE II that she is capable of running well at this level so its hard to write her off. A good winner in a sub 1.33 mile time last time out could be a clue to some of that good old HRP Sparkle sprinkle that horses can get at times so her run will be worth noting.

9 Franke Australia Wide Gryder A T

You can never keep a good trainer down and the old master quickly got back in the limelight when this filly started looking like a bargain at $165 winning her last two in graded company. The last win came in that blanket finish in the CD Distaff Turf Mile where she prevailed by a nose and before that she took the Right Honorable by a head both from difficult draws. The trainer again gets the visitors draw today but this filly has proved she has a big heart and it wouldn’t surprise me to see her take her trainer back to the BC.

10 Delinquent Assembly Nakamura Stables Cedillo A

She came from a little sprint allowance at LAD, won four in a row and ended up a grade three winner and a mile and sixteenth. Such are the possibilities here at HRP. Her last start saw her in that rather silly finish to the CD Distaff Turf Mile where she was fifth beaten a half length so she would be right in the mix on that sort of effort. The wide draw will mean that the Nak factor will have to be turned up to get her home but she has the ability if the race engine is kind to her from out here.

SUMMARY

Five of the ten runners were within a length of each other last time out so you may as well put a pin in to pick which one will come out on top today. I am still in La Terrifiants camp on that score but i will take a step into the left field and have a little each way on Bach In Tune as well.
