1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $2,000.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st   Whispering Nurse  D J C Racing Stables  Velazquez J R

This filly just doesnt know how to give up and she certainly doesnt know how to run a bad race. Breaking from the 12 stall she got onto the speed and just kept grinding to the line for a thrilling and game head win. This was her 4th grade one win of the year in her 20th start of a career that has never seen her out of the first three.
Bred by Sarah Stables she was bought for just $20.000 pre race and must hold a very special place in the heart of her owner. Lets hope she makes it as a five year old and comes back next year to defend her title.

2nd   Beat To The Punch  Mb Stables               Gallardo A A

This tough filly ran the race of her life in second tracking wide right through the turn and ending up in the stands for the run to the line. She kept getting an inch at a time out of the winner through the final furlong but just couldnt get past her in the end settling for a brilliant second. Considering she was winning a grade two sprint last time this was a brilliant effort by the consistent three year old who seems to run well in every race.

3rd   La Terrifiant               Our Athletes               Talamo J

Last years BC Juvenile fillies winner  ran the race of her season from a terrible draw. Getting right up with the leading two she kept giving all the way to the line and although a little way behind the first two she thoroughly deserved this finish.

Got a little stuck on the rail and came on nicely at the end without ever getting in a serious blow.

This wonderful mare was fourth again, the same as last year. The funny thing is last year she made the running and gutsed it out for fourth and this year she came from behind to fill the same spot.

SUMMARY

Like all of the BC races there were plenty of hard luck stories in behind as with 14 runners the digital tracks arent really big enough for the digital footprint of the horses. Still the winner was the best in the field and did it very bravely taking bad luck right out of it.
