Early Retirement Won’t Be Seeing Nursing Home Any Time Soon as He Walks BC Turf

BC Turf – Grade I
1 1/2 Mile Turf Stake Purse $4,000.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st   Early Retirement               Mb Stables               Colon L H

Well with Colon and Pennington finishing first and second i guess its pretty clear which jockeys own the best turf AI in the game. Having said that they were on two remarkable horses for very different reasons. Early Retirement started the year winning a one win allowance at FG but when his season exploded in July with a  BEL Derby win he has just got faster and faster to the point that he was a clear choice for this race especially when he got the jockey and the draw that everyone else wanted. There really was never any doubt who was winning this race as he stalked his main rival People Doubted and then cruised past him the writing was on the wall. He won by four lengths in the end and will go down as one of the easiest BC winners of all time.
This was a testament to how the draw decides races here at HRP. Last time out in the Hirsch Turf Classic he was drawn wide and was beaten three lengths by People Doubted. Today People Doubted was drawn wide and he beat him by seven lengths. Today was his day however as he gave Decima and his owner their second straight BC Turf winner.

2nd   Spanish Showboat  Mb Stables               Pennington F

There are no words to describe what a great old horse this is and it was super to see him put his BC Turf voodoo behind him with a powerful late run into second. Part of me and i am sure part of his owner would love to see him swap places with his stable companion but dare i say it there is always next year when he will attempt to win at the ripe old age of nine.

3rd   Lets Do It Big Boy               RNP Stables               Davila J R Jr

Well congrats to his owner who paid just $125 for a  BC runner who looked to have little chance and was paid off with an amazing effort to collect third place. The best this horse had done before was an ungraded stakes win but today he came out of the blue for third.

4th   Techfluence               The Sidley Stud                Ortiz I Jr

This is a great turf horse who finished fourth again in a BC Turf running a very similar race than he did last year. The widest runner in the money he managed to cling on to a distant fourth after going to stalk the two three year olds early on.

SUMMARY
Well it was obvious a three year old would win and in the end the draw and the jockey choices sorted it out for punters. People Doubted got on the lead with fairly cheap sectionals but was ten lengths worse that he was in the Hirsch Turf Classic at the end which he won in the same finishing time.

The winner was amazing today and the ol horse made it a memorable race for Mb Stables who secured their only BC win of the season in this race.
