Who Won’t Be Too Scared to Party After Buena Vista Stakes

Buena Vista Stakes – Grade II
SA Race #7 1m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Zee Model Gdp Inc Gonzalez Ru

It is often funny how we can see a maxed out field for a hundred buck grade three and then a short field for a two hundred buck grade two but that’s just how the cookie crumbles sometimes. This lightly raced five year old gets in nicely for this race having won the Goldikova last year and being beaten just a head in the grade one First Lady. That sort of form is very attractive for a race like this and with the benefit of a run this year and some nice recent works she looks a major chance to win.

2 Too Scared To Party Smokey Stover Gutierrez Mario

You can never write off anything from this barn especially in a fillies and mares race from the perfect draw with a turf jockey of some ability. The winner of seven from thirteen including a grade one win in the Rodeo Drive and a close fourth in the BC Fillies and mares turf last year she must be the favorite to win. My only fear for her is that the mile may be a bit sharp but it is only a small worry and it may not be enough to see her beaten.

3 Hash Tag Hash Estero Farms Fuentes Ru

Behind Too Zee Model in the First Lady she came from a along way back that day so that defeat may be subject to reversal with a better start. She had previously won the Nashua and ended the season with a win in the Franklin so is right in this race on her best form. The only negative is that she hated the off track in the BEL Oaks so rain would ruin her chances but if the track stays dry i can see her being right in at the finish.

4 Ice Cream Truck First Street Stables Hernandez J J

A well traveled and experienced mare she has a length to find with Zee Model on her Goldikova form where she ran a good second but that was her best race for a while and she looked out of sorts on her seasonal debut. She will need to show some of that old sparkle to have any chance here.

5 Diva Delite D J C Racing Stables Espinoza V

Tenth in the First Lady from a wide draw so whilst she has something to find on that form she can be forgiven the run from a wide gate. She has won a couple of nice ungraded stakes races and is lightly raced so she could improve enough to have a chance here.

6 Ewa Beach The American Prat F

This trainer doesn’t race much but they made a great claim on this one before winning their first ever graded stakes as the five year old took out the Mashua River in her first start for the new trainer. She gets the other end of the draw today so things wont be as easy but this winner of nine is on for five wins in a row and seems to have found a remarkable vein of form. Her works are very good and just maybe she can provide the owner with stakes win number two.

SUMMARY

I think Ewa Beach could be pretty good but the draw is putting me off especially against some useful grade one winners. Too Scared To Party and Zee Model look good choices here but this small field is open enough to give a winning chance to whoever wins.
