Wicked Heat Joins the Small Band of Older Horses with a BC Hope

Rodeo Drive Stakes – Grade I [BC]
1 1/4 Mile Turf Stake Purse $300.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Wicked Heat, trained by EasyMoney Stables
This wonderful four year old booked herself a date at the big dance with a game win today. Never far off the pace she just wouldnt go away and kept eyeing the challengers and defying them to win by a head. The Distaff winner last year she will be one of the few older horses in with a chance this year.

2nd Nothing Given, trained by Our Athletes
This improving three year old looked like she would get past and go on and win this race but she couldn’t out battle Wicked Heat and had to settle for a close second in the end. She will be right there if she is in the BC field and will set up another battle with the winner

3rd Killer Angels, trained by TwinTowers Racing
Got much closer to Nothing Given than she did in the DMR Oaks just a neck off the winner in the end. Getting to the front at the mile mark she was very tough in keeping on and has run another super race against top fillies.

4th Congratulations, trained by Chili King Stables
Looked at one stage like she may burst through but though she kept on well for fourth she couldnt produce the required turn of foot. This was another good effort that promised so much but its been over a year since she won a race ad she looks a frustrating sort.

SUMMARY
Its pretty rare for the older horses to beat the three’s these days but Wicked Heat joined the likes of Atomic Twister and A One as the great hopes of the older generation as they head towards the BC.
