Will it All Be About the End Game in Nearctic Stakes?

Nearctic Stakes – Grade II
3:00 WO Race #3 6f Turf Graded Stake
Purse $250.00 For Three Year Olds And Upward.

1 Cold Weather Rider Night Rider Stables Leparoux J R

The KD Turf Sprint is normally a good form race and this one was a hard closing third from a wide gate so with the ace draw today his trainer will be confident. The consistent six year old, the winner of 12 races, is no hidden flower so it is pretty clear we should get a forward showing, how forward of course we wont know until 13.41.

2 Pollinate Mb Stables Hernandez R M

A head second in the KD Preview Turf Sprint he didn’t go to the KD Sprint itself and instead finished fourth in the Simpson a few days later. The winner of the Parx Sprint with Cold Weather Rider behind he gets another favorable draw today so should again be a force to be reckoned with. He has a bit to find i feel but the 3Lb allowance he receives should go some way to helping.

3 The Grandmaster John Henry Tunon M

The five year old son of Cherokee Sunset has been a great sprinter for a long time and ran a cracker in the KD Turf Sprint from a wide draw finishing second and just ahead of Cold Weather Rider. He has all sorts of class and experience and a great draw to use it from.

4 One Zero Chili King Stables Gaffalione T

The three year old has been seen over much longer trips than this but ran some very fast splits to win a claimer last time and it will be interesting to see how he sprints today. I am struggling to see him winning but if he manages to dictate the pace could be there at the end.

5 King Que Niagra D J C Racing Stables Lezcano J

Another that has been over longer trips he was a nose second over ten furlongs last time and drops back to six today. Normally that would put you off but here at HRP the trip doesn’t make much difference so i don’t think that will be a problem. His works are fast and he gets the 3Lb allowance so he may just about win with luck on his side.

6 Milford Sound Mwn Racing DeCarlo C P

This one has always promised to break through but seems to come up a little short at this level. Having said that he has won 8 races from 19 starts which is a great win %. We haven’t seen him on turf so much but surface like the trip doesn’t make much difference here so there is no reason he can’t make his presence felt.

7 Eggs And Bacon Mb Stables Garcia Mar

Behind his stable mate in both the Parx Sprint and the KD Turf Sprint prelude he then beat Pollinate in the Simpson last time which is pretty much how form tends to go. Third in the BC Juvenile Turf last year he is good enough to be a chance and anything from Mb Stables is a win chance in graded stakes.

8 The End Game RNP Stables Velazquez J R

Flew home from a wide draw in the Galant Bob last time and was only beaten a half length into third, an excellent effort. He has been moving through the grades nicely and has proved equally good on turf or dirt. He again gets no favors from the draw and will have to rely on a bit of luck from out here but he certainly has the ability to win.

9 Charleys Glance Maxmillion Farm Gutierrez Mario

Drawn wide in the KD Turf Sprint he went crazy fast in the wet ground early on and though he still led at the furlong pole weakened quickly to end up seventh. I wonder what the turf king will do today with the advantage of the old click and change running style buttons and that i think will be the key to where he finishes.

10 Cellmate Bears Stable Rosado R J

This one came from winning a five dollar starter allowance in May to a grade three winner in August so is clearly moving through his improvement gears at a good pace. He won the Green Flash Handicap in a lightening time but then drew badly in the Eddie D but very nearly beat the odds when going down by just a half length. I like this ones chances a lot and if he can find a way from the bad draw and gets a bit of luck from the race engine he could well be the one to take this race for the good guys.

11 Red Cup John Henry Centeno D E

The winner of the grade one Highlander gets no favors from the draw today but he won that race from ten so there is no reason why lightening can’t strike again. Though he has over 1K in winnings he has only won four from twenty three so he has to get things right, but if he does he has a winning chance.

12 Korean Bolt Smokey Stover Bisono J

This one promised so much early in the year but has been a little disappointing since and still has a bit to prove. The draw certainly wont help him get back to winning ways but he is a very fast worker and a grade two winner so if Smokey can pick a path then this one is a winning chance too.

SUMMARY

Many chances here and so much will come down to the race engine as to who will win. There are several big hopes drawn wide so they will be hoping for a fast early pace on the inside but the inside will know that so may just wait for the wide gate speed push to kill of a couple of the challengers. I think The End Game may be hard to beat and along with King Que Niagra may be the best of the three year olc chances. Of the older horses Cellmate is an untapped talent and Korean Bolt must hit form again soon.
