Will Indian Summer Bring Us Bad Precedent for the BC?

Indian Summer [BC]
KEE Race #5 5 1/2f Turf Stake
Purse $150.000 For Two Year Olds.

1 Found Peace Mb Stables Tunon M

The BC Juvenile Sprint relies on the results of very few races so can be one of the easiest BC races to get into if you happen to have an early maturing turf juvenile in your barn. This horse looks to have it all, an inside draw, the turf jockey of the season on board and an inside gate with a sub 58 second work. Top that off with the fact that he was going for three in a row when given an impossible task from the wide gate last time out and it looks like he is a serious winning chance in this.

2 Live The Life Luz International McCarthy T

Won nicely on debut which isn’t always a good thing but backed it up with a nice fourth on the downhill at SA last time out suggesting he could be up to a race like this. He gets the coveted two box so should get a decent trip and whilst he hasn’t exactly got the works or the form to be a top fancy i wouldn’t be overly surprised to see him in the finish.

3 Tormented Mb Stables Garcia Mar

The second runner from the stable he was also onto a three timer when taking on stakes company last time and ran a solid third just a half length off the winner. That race was on dirt but he comes back to turf today a surface he won his allowance on second up. I thought he may have been a little out paced here but he gets the draw to allow him to lay up so they may not be a problem. He may be slightly the second string on turf but as we know in a race where i doubt more than a length will separate most of the runners it wouldn’t take much luck to see him winning.

4 Darth Charley Diablo Diablo Stein J

Has struggled a little after winning on debut but ran much better when put on turf for the first time last time out. Drawn wide he was catapulted forward by the wide gate speed push and after leading kept on pretty well to be beaten just a length into sixth. His turf works say that with this better draw he may be the biggest danger to an Mb one two.

5 Rise Burn Team 7 Illusions Hernandez J J

Still a maiden after two runs but we have seen this very canny trainer pull off bigger coups than that before. Showing bags of pace in his two runs he was placed both times and lets face it most maidens are run just as quick as stakes races at the highest level so it isn’t bad form at all. His works are as good as most of these and i can see him running well.

6 Amber Waves TwinTowersRacing Velazquez J

Well tried since his maiden win he has shown enough ability to deserve a crack at the BC here today. All of his runs have been on dirt so far but some recent turf works suggest he is just as good on turf so he should again be competitive. He certainly has the pace for this trip and like most of us here at HRP we are always happy if TwinTowersRacing gets a good one.

7 Yankee Clipper D J C Racing Stables Rosado R J

Won on debut and then followed up with a good second in a competitive allowance at MTH which was more or less as good as an ungraded stakes race. His works improved very nicely between his debut and second run so with more improvement after that second start he could be a bit of a dark horse in this. The draw is tricky but if he gets some luck and can slot in then i may be tempted to seek him out if the odds are attractive.

8 Promised Prince Patterson Stables Davis D

I like the fact that this horse has never stopped improving from a pretty average debut run to an eventual maiden win at FE and then a gutsy allowance with at WO. I like the fact that he looks a natural turfer and his works are good enough so like the horse inside him with a bit of luck from a sticky draw he could run well for a stable that has some very nice juveniles this year.

9 Party Till You Cough Aer Stables Gutierrez Mario

Gets the other turf jockey but after three good races is having his first go at turf so may need some help in that direction. The winner of two from three he clearly has a ton of pace and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him run very well.

10 Puffman Keikowin Racing Ortiz J L

Getting out into the cheap seats we find the only unbeaten horse in the field. A free track maiden winner he went on for a shock win in an SAR maiden bringing home a very high speed rating. His works are tough to read but his form says he could be a superstar for a stable that deserves one. They will need luck from out here but all things being equal he has a winning chance.

11 Hortator Mb Stables Beschizza A

The third stable runner finds himself in the sort of spot that only gives him two choices. He looks fast enough to go forward so he may be the one to burn a few out but there was enough in his maiden win at ELP to suggest he deserves a shot.

12 Bad Precedent Mo Mentum Farm Bisono J

On the face of it this one looks up against it but there are a few things here that certainly interest me. Firstly he has recorded the fastest SRF speed figure of 98 and that was in his last race when he ran wide all the way and ended up just a quarter length off the winner in the Ontario Racing Stakes. Secondly he recorded a 1.10 flat work prior to that so if he found any improvement after that race he could well be the fastest worker in the field. Lastly Bisono is a turf specialist and if you take out his poor run on an off track his form read pretty well too. Of course he will need the race engne to work for him but if it does he could easily win.

SUMMARY

I would be all over the chances of Bad Precedent for this race had he not drawn the car park but with that handicap you have to look at others as well. The Mb pair drawn one and three will of course be right in it and i like Darth Charley and Puffman too. With the high probability of a couple of lengths covering them all at the end unless there is rain i wont be surprised to see anything win though.
