AQU Race #4 $150.000
F&M 3+ 121/124 Lbs 6-Furlongs (T)
Course Record-1:07.87 (The Grandmaster-2021)
Stakes Record-1:08.01 (Ms Joyce-2021)
#1 Luck Be A Lady (Nakamura Stables/B. Hernandez 124): Filly has won two straight, but she’s making her 1st start since the 27th of August. That appears to be the way she likes to run though as she has been taking a month off between starts since being purchased by this outfit. Filly has nice gate speed which should be dangerous from this draw and she sports a 6-4-1-0 record in sprints.
#2 Fire Tech (Keikowin Racing/J. Lezcano 124): Filly will be dipping her toes in the stake’s pool for the first time this season, but she’s faced some quality opposition in her five starts this season. Only has one win, but she’s been in the money all year. Looks plenty quick enough to be close early but the Janusry race showed she could close.
#3 Angelic (D J C Racing Stables/D. Davis 121): Sophomore lass has finished 2nd/3rd in seven of her eight starts this season, all of which have run on the main track. Will make her turf debut in here, but she’s been keeping excellent company. The one 6f turf move looks good enough, but she faces some tough rivals in here.
#4 School Of Thought (TwinTowersRacing/L. Cardenas 124): 5yo took a GP stake back in April, but she’s fallen off form in four races since. Been bouncing between sprints and routes, but she’s all turf. She’s faced better, but she hasn’t beaten these types very often. Should sit a good trip, but you wish she was more consistent.
#5 Tropical Mama (Maxmillion Farm/G.G. Richards 121): Filly keeps changing hands but no one has solved the riddle she presents. This outfit probably has a better understanding approaching her 2nd start in their silks, but she’s run for three of the best in the game this season and she’s still winless in her campaign.
#6 Your Worst Nightmare (London Racing/J.J. Castellano 124): Can’t fault the form this lass brings to the dance with that 5-4-0-1 record on the season. Like the fact that she’s quick away from the gate as well as the fact that she is a confirmed sprinter. Her last two have resulted in victories at this same level and she looms a big presence.
#7 Sin City Foul (Asgar/E. Cancel 124): 5yo is a consistent check-earner, but she doesn’t win as often as you’d like. Turf form doesn’t wow you, but she seems to be a gal that finds a way to earn her keep. Maybe she gets a pace battle that sets her up perfectly, but a minor award feels like her ceiling.
Final Analysis: Maybe we get fooled, but this race seems to finish 6-4-1 or 6-1-4. Either way, the 6 looms large. Good luck to all of the runners in the Floral Park at AQU!
