Z Command Looks to Launch Her Season in The Suncoast Stakes

  2/9 The Suncoast Stakes [KYO]
TAM Race #7 1m 70 Dirt Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies Three Years Old.

1 Piece Of Heart SamIam Centeno D E

This is an interesting lightly raced filly who won her maiden with such authority last time out that this jump up in class doesnt look too much of a stretch. Clearly much improved from 2 to 3 it will just be a matter of whether she has the hidden class gene. An on pace runner so this draw should be good for her and is she gets a soft lead she will be hard to run down.

2 Innocent Approach Mb Stables Gallardo A A

She won her maiden on debut and was then tested in black type fairing pretty well especially when a close sixth in the grade three Matron. Since that race she has won two overnights in a row and looks more than ready to try again at this level. Her works are very strong and this trip will suit so with the perfect draw she could be the one to upset the form horse Z Command.

3 Z Command Joshua Stables Colon L H

The clear choice on form but as we all know that doesnt mean much. After being nosed out of the Spinaway last year she went on to finish a brilliant third in the BC Juvenile fillies, running on best of all and winning the race strides after the post. Her works are as good as ever and as i said she is the clear choice on her achievements so far.

4 Tauranga D J C Racing Stables Bravo J

Looked pretty good in winning her first two but then dissapointed in her next start prompting her third change of stable in a short career. She has been working well and i think this trip will be right for her so i expect an improved effort n this race.

5 Silent Niner Childs Play Chirinos R

She was bought on New Years Eve for $75.000 and quickly repaid her trainers confidence with an easy win in the ungraded Border Plex Stakes in her seasonal debut. Its hard to really weigh her up but she is a consistent sort who will never stop trying.

6 Steady Sneaks Smokey Stover Ortiz I Jr

She has yet to live up to some good works times but is unbeaten over this trip and comes from a stable riding the crest of a wave. She made ground late over seven furlongs on seasonal debut finishing fourth in the Gasperilla Stakes and that will have sharpened her up nicely for this race.

7 Girlwithanattitude Aer Stables Lopez P

Gets the car park draw which is a shame for this twice raced filly who looks to have a lot of upside. Looking at her works there has been plenty of improvement since her debut in early December and her maiden win was authoritative so whilst the draw has been unkind she looks to have a decent chance with some luck in running.

SUMMARY

The form lines say Z Command will win hands down but form lines mean very little these days and there are six good fillies here waiting to take advantage of any little bit of bad luck. Its hard to settle on one as a main danger as they all look capable but anything from the big three trainers of Mb, DJC and Smokey Stover has to be given an extra half length through association.
