The IND Oaks – GIII

Three Year Olds Fillies
Only six fillies have been entered up here for this years running of the grade two Indiana Oaks here over the Indiana Grand Racetrack. It is a nice solid field for this years race and many of these are coming out of tougher races. Let’s take a look at the field.
1. Z Command (11-2-3-3 $782.200), trained by Joshua Stables
And here we have the first entry in the field and this may be the top horse in here. She just ran a very good third in the grade one Acorn at Belmont and that was a very tough race. She does like to close from far back usually so a quick pace will help her out for sure.
2. Key To Class (9-3-0-1 $120.620), trained by Toppedout
This next filly right here will be aiming to get the route of ground once again which I honestly think she does not want to do. Her best win was in the grade three Beaumont going seven furlongs. It is a small field though so I can see why they are taking a shot.
3. Puerto Princesa (9-3-0-4 $141.650), trained by Paradise Stable
This filly will be stepping up to graded stakes company for the first time. She has been beating up on Florida bred company in most of her races but this is a whole different ballgame. If the statebred races mean anything she could possibly have a chance in here.
4. Maggie McGee (8-2-1-3 $210.700), trained by D J C Racing Stables
And another one that is coming out of the grade one Acorn right here is this filly right here and she ran a pretty good closing fourth that day. It looks like this is a good spot for her here and I think that she could definitely win it with some racing luck.
5. Stormy Embrace (6-2-1-0 $195.510), trained by Mb Stables
Here is a graded stakes winner right here when she won the grade two Gulfstream Park Oaks earlier this year. She ran a good fifth in the grade one Kentucky Oaks also. Her last out was not her best effort but if she runs like a few races back she will have a chance.
6. Just About Right (8-2-2-1 $21.390), trained by Nakamura Stables
Well here is a very surprising entry into this field at this filly just won an allowance race at Marquis Downs for three dollar purse. She hasn’t ran much better against tougher than that and this is way tougher than those races. I don’t think she has much of a chance.
Summary
Quite a small field for this race but I still think that there is some quality runners in this race. The top choice for me in here is going to be Z Command but I also think Maggie McGee has a pretty good chance. Good luck to all in the field.
