When Spirits Feronia won this race in 2019 she was heads and shoulders above her rivals but even then the 8Lbs she was giving away looked to be too much considering the effect weight can have on our digital charges. This year was similar with Z Laffy One who faced a field with inferior form but equal works and race times but i didn’t think this consistent mare would be able to pull it off. The off track however equalled things out enough though as this mare made it three from four on an off track beating a favorite that had never faced wet ground. Steadied off the pace she made good ground and came down the outside for a stylish win.
Lets hope this means that the new new race engine had some tweak on weight effects too and we will see some much more competitive racing for our older generation this year.

2nd Ruby Jaws            Arindel             Gutierrez Mario

She was going for four in a row and showed plenty of speed early to take them along, mid way throug the turn though it was obvious the wet ground was going to bring her back to them and she got run down by the off ground specialist at the end. This was a good run from the filly but we will probably have to see her back on a faster surface to see how good she can be.

3rd Peppermint Crush           Allinthegate          Bejarano R

Stalked the lead but couldn’t quicken off the turn plodding on for third. This was a little dissapointing after a grade three win last time but her record still reads never out of the first four.

4th Yabadabadoo       Threshold         Bahen S R

Blew the start and just plodded round at the back as they do when that happens.
