Getting better indeed…  Z Laffy One looked doomed as they turned
for home in the CC Distaff Dash, but the gray filly kept coming, and
coming, and coming and got up on the wire to win by a half length in
a zippy :56.72 for the five furlongs.  Call Me Spanish and Sierra
Madre also closed a late gap causing a dead heat for the second spot.

The eleven ladies were locked and loaded into the starting gate and
getting away in good fashion with Bo On The Go on the front end, Diamonds
Are Forever next to that one, Slickblackcadillac and Miz Evil Five Phooey
pressing the early pace.  Pink Kitten just in behind that group,
Cryptic Cozzene giving chase, Madame de Maintenon on the rail and Call Me
Spanish next to that one.  Sierra Madre, next to that duo, then a
length back to Z Laffy One and Only One God was the early trailer.

Midway on the turn and past the five-sixteenths pole, Bo On The Go
continuing to lead but caught wide, Diamond Are Forever even further out,
Miz Evil Five Phoey a length off of that one, Slickblackcadillac, then
Pink Kitten between that pair, and Cryptic Cozzene on the inside.
Another gap back to Call Me Spanish between horses, Sierra Madre on her
outside, Madame de Maintenon on the rail, two more back to Z Laffy One and
Only One God well back at the rear.

Into the lane and nearing the furlog marker, Bo On The Go continuing to show
the way by a length and a half, Diamonds Are Forever trying to close the gap
from the far outside, the trio of Slickblackcadillac, Miz Evil Five Phooey
and Pink Kitten, Cryptic Cozzene from the inside.  Another length to
Sierra Madre out wide, Call Me Spannish and Cadame de Maintenon along the
inside, Z Laffy One another length behind that pair and out wide, and Only
One God could see them all.

Inside the final 150-yards and to the finish, this race was wide open as
the leaders were folding and the closers were flying.  Sierra Madre
up to take a short lead, Pink Kitten trying to find more, but from the
clouds, Z Laffy One was in a different gear and from very wide position,
went by them all and got the job done, winning by a half length.
Call Me Spanish rallied wide as well, as did Sierra Madre and the photo
couldn’t separate them and we had a dead-head for the place.  Only
One God came from left field for fourth, then Pink Kitten in fifth,
Slickblackcadillac in sixth, Bo On The Go tiring late for seventh, Madame
de Maintenon in eighth, Cryptic Cozzene in ninth, Miz Evil Five Phooey in
tenth and Diamonds Are Forever rounded out the field.

Z Laffy One is a 3yo gray filly by Z Jinxed One – Live Laffin by Laffin
Christmas, and she was bred in NY by Gdp Inc.  Claimed two back for a
mere $10.000, the Ace Racing Stable trained speedster now has $160.06 in
lifetime earnings, winning five of twelve starts, four this season, and
both starts for the new connections.  Congratulations to Ace Racing
Stable and Z Laffy One.
