Z Only Needs One Chance in Palos Verdes Stakes

Palos Verdes Stakes – Grade II
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1 Z One Chance, trained by Serenity Stables
With all the BC Sprint form and accomplished grade one winning three year olds it was pure HRP that a horse that only broke his maiden 6 months ago and hadnt won a graded stakes would take the victory. The clue with this one wasnt in his previous accomplishments but in the work times he had been recording since a win in the statebred stakes race The Hudson. Beaten fair and square by Oh Awesome One last time out he turned that form around like it didnt matter winning this by a comfortable three quarters of a length  and starting this season off a bit better than the 15 length last he started last season off with.

2 Bay Of Plenty, trained by Team 7 Illusions
Raced on the pace but couldnt hold the finish of the winner. This was a good seasonal debut and as he hadnt raced since last years BC he should come on for the effort.

3 Oh Awesome One, trained by John Henry
Made all to beat the winner last time out but was passed pretty easily by the same horse today. This six year old looks to retain his form pretty well and should once  again prove a force in this type of race as the season moves on.

4 Red Matic, trained by Witeout Stables
Drawn wide in his last 4 starts he was given a big chance today with gate number one but once again got himself into trouble running up behind the first three to take fourth. Whether its a change of instructions, luck or timing he may need that seventh furlong to give him time to get the job done.
