                                                                                             BC Mile – Grade I
Mile Turf Purse $2,000.000
                                                                                for three-year-olds and upward

st 20-1 outsider Lucky Phooey from Estero Farms stalked the field through most of the race, fired a strong late run and got up in the final stride to win the BC Mile. The three-year-old hadn’t exactly been burning up the courses in the lead up to this race, and as we said in the preview, he would need to dig deep to be a factor here, and that is exactly what the sophomore did, fighting gallantly down the stretch for the victory.

nd D J C Racing Stables’ Devil Six, a 52-1 longshot, reversed his recent fortune lagging far back through the early fractions, worked his way into contention into the stretch and continued gamely to miss by the shortest of noses.

rd Gdp Inc’s Midwestern Slang, a longshot, but nothing like the first two appreciated the shorter route today, forcing the pace into the stretch where he took over the lead near the finish only to be overtaken by the first two in the last 70 yards.

th Mb Stables’ The Hand Youre Dealt stalked the leaders to the stretch, mounted a strong run coming home and continued on gamely while being passed by the late closers to finish within a length.

th Threshold’s Decibel set all the early fractions leading the way into the far turn where he began to weaken, but was still a length off at the wire,

th Mb Stables’ Name Drop, well back early, closed with courage, but late.

th Estero Farms’ Thats Fazzt.

th Mb Stables’ Nowhere Man.

th Saratoga Stud’s T N T Dynamite.

th Joseph Racing’s Banshee Star.

th Sir Daniel Martin’s Siberian Prince.

th D J C Racing Stables’ Nitemare.

th Spankys Barn’s Controlled Power.

th John Henry’s Z One Chance.
