BEL Race #2 $150.000 6 Furlongs Turf

3YO+ Fillies and Mares 121/124 Lbs

Track Record-1:14.13 (Spicy Ball-2017)

Stakes Record-1:08.39 (Dorilinda-2020)

The $150.000 Floral Park will be run for the eighth time at BEL on Sunday.  A six furlong turf contest for fillies and mares three years-old and up, the Floral Park has an interesting history.  Initially a dirt sprint, it was run from 2003-2006 before taking a twelve year hiatus and returning as a turf sprint.  The first seven events were won by seven different trainers and jockeys here at HRP.  Here is the field for the $150.000 Floral Park at BEL:

#1 Aggravated Chick (Big Jd Racing/J.A. Vargas Jr 124): Seven trifecta placings in eight starts this year. 5yo has been close vs stakes company before and looks like she found a field that she will be competitive with here.  Drew well and has enough tactical speed to stay close early.

#2 Eskimo Kisses (Angelos Stable/J.J. Castellano 124): Tried a G3 KD sprint after victory in SAR overnight stakes and returns back to the overnight level here.  Should be easy to find early as she will probably drop back and make a run at them through the lane.

#3 Ms Joyce (RNP Stables/M. Franco 121): Graded stakes-placed on dirt and a stakes winner on both surfaces.  Gets in here with a three pound weight break and looks to be dangerous.  Will probably be right up on the pace and rates a strong chance in this event.

#4 Z Laffy One (Ace Racing Stable/E. Cancel 124): Enters here off of an uncharacteristically poor performance in here last.  Graded winner playing this game and usually performs on race day.  Backers may be the beneficiaries of that poor performance last time if others aren’t so forgiving.

#5 Gaeilic Wonder (Smokey Stover/J. Alvarado 121): Speedball has been really good in the allowance ranks, but has found the stakes level a bit too tough in two previous attempts this year.  Was a BC participant last year and, if she is right, could be really tough in this spot.

#6 Feminist (Gdp Inc/K. Carmouche 121): Another blessed with early foot, she has run really well since the claim two back.  May be asked to use her speed from this outside draw, but don’t think that should detract from her chances.  Should appreciate the cut-back to one turn and is yet another viable option in a wide-open event.

Final Analysis: Going to try to swoop the field with 2-4-5.  Race seems to set up for a closer, but no result would be a shocker.  Good luck to all of the participants in the $150.000 Floral Park at BEL.
