Supersede Gets Deserved Win in Buffalo Trace Franklin County

Buffalo Trace Franklin County – Grade III
5 1/2 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st       Supersede        D J C Racing Stables       Cohen D

Well i mentioned in the preview for this race that this four year old was favored in the draw form book against several of her rivals and sure enough it was that form which was the deciding factor as this versatile filly stormed up by a length. The wet ground certainly didn’t bother her as she ran a cracker in the Royal North in similar conditions but the big thing for her today was being able to run her race from the perfect draw and she definitely deserved this stakes win after plenty of near miss’s this year.

2nd      My Girl Makita       Smokey Stover        Albarado R J

Well the winners last race was over nine furlongs and the second horses last race was over eight so i don’t think i need to bang on about there being very little difference between sprints and routes at HRP. Outpaced early as expected she ran through really nicely to get second running some fast closing sectionals. This will give the horse a nice pipe opener before the Fillies and Mares Turf where she will be much better suited by the trip.

3rd      Gummy High       Voltage     Talamo J

if there is a horse at HRP that deserves a break it is this one as she raced from her fifth terrible wide draw out of her last six and she won that odd one when she was drawn on the rail. In the car park today she had to do plenty of work again but was really game in finishing third just a length behind the winner. Give this horse a decent draw and there is a good race in her record.

4th      Very Brady        Maletto         Bejarano R

Drawn wide she was taken way back and flew home for fourth in a photo for second. This was a decent performance from a tough draw and she is a real consistent sort.
