#1 Informed Minister (Nakamura Stables/H. Hernandez): Last-out LAD maiden-winner on turf switches back to the main track here in his first crack at winners.  Used a stalk-and-pounce approach down in Louisiana and is well-drawn to duplicate that approach.  Haven’t seen a main track work in over a month, so he’ll have to show improvement from what we saw September 4th.

#2 Regulatory (Mb Stables/A.S. Worrie): Gelding broke his maiden in August at ELP going this trip, but didn’t relish the off-going in his first try versus winners.  Has shown a willingness to sit behind horses while still being quick enough to be in position to pounce.  Barn probably had others who could run here, so it’s a confidence booster that this guy was the lone entrant.

#3 Hot Shark (Arindel/J.R. Davila Jr): Debuted a winner down at LAD and has proceded to hit the board in all three cracks at winners.  The last two efforts came against this same level of competition where he was 3rd both times.  Nice to see he has been able to employ different tactics effectively as well as handle different goings on the main track.  Looks like a strong entry.

#4 Niagra Highland (Axeman/L.E. Perez): Was 0-2 on the main track before breaking the maiden on the lawn up at WO.  Two tries against winners on the grass weren’t pretty, but that was against open N1X foes at AQU and WO, respectively.  The first two starts on dirt were promising enough as he was 3rd twice to begin his career.  Should appreciate facing restricted foes and works are good enough to compete.

#5 Drill (D J C Racing Stables/Os. Gomez): Barn’s first of two entrants was tagged for $50.000 in career debut before returning a month ago in the maiden-breaker.  Nice-looking colt hasn’t faced winners yet, but he’s been training well for this assignment.  Stablemate has the experience edge on him, but he may be a fairer price for those who back him.

#6 Jokers Wild (D J C Racing Stables): Stakes-placed colt didn’t fare so well on the stretchout last time, but he’s a proven commodity going one-turn.  Broke his maiden on debut against state-bred foes at AQU before hitting the board in two open stakes and an open N1X.  Draw shouldn’t hurt his chances too much as he figures to sit a couple lengths off and should be able to get, at worst, a three-wide trip.  He looks to be the class of the race and has to be given a long look in here.

Final Analysis: 6-3 is how we see the NY Breeders Futurity, but we’ll have a little money on the 5 as well.  Good luck to all of the connections!
