NY Stallion Series – Liberty
1 Mile InTurf Stake Purse $150.00 Fillies Three Years Old Foaled in NY. At SAR
1st Vesuvius Flare Aer Stables 9-2 (HRP) 6-1 (SRF)
Here’s what I said about Vesuvius Flare, “Probably needs seasoning, either that or she’s a monster.” She’s a monster. That’s three straight wins for this lightly raced sophomore. After a difficult time in her first two races, she scored a knockout maiden win by two lengths at TUP, followed that with a sprint win at LS that did nothing to prepare her for her first stakes race, in my opinion. I was wrong again because, boy, was she ready! She burst out of the starting gate at a run in third. Pushed the leaders into the stretch where she started an attack that brought her home three-quarter lengths ahead.
2nd Used Less Maxmillion Farm 7-2 (HRP) 9-2 (SRF)
Well, that $150.00 that Maxmillion Farm paid for Used Less is looking better and better. She is now making a living placing second and third with the occasional minor check. Today he laid well back in sixth to the stretch and unleashed a late run that fell three-quarter lengths short.
3rd Dark Peel Our Athletes 5-1 (HRP) *3-1 (SRF)
Dark Peel continues to use that deep close to great advantage. What I like most about this lass is she is a truly consistent deep closer. Soe might accuse her of getting too far back, but I like it because she seems to control it so well and I get the feeling she’; going to get better at it. Today she was very far back in eight but started moving on the far turn so she was only a length back at the wire. Refine that, and she’s going to be tough to beat down the line.
4th Devil Z Maxmillion Farm 5-1 (HRP) 4-1 (SRF)
I think Devil Z needed a race but still poi up a hell of a battle. She’s been off for four months while she adjusted to the change from La Canada Racehorses to Maxmillion Farm. I think if this had been a normal thirty-day rotation, we might well be celebrating a Devil Z victory. She came out of the gate flying, held the lead down the lane and was overrun by closers in the final strides.
