Tactical speed and the ability to get the job done… that pretty much explains Aer Stables Nude Beach in the 2019 running of the Falls City Hcp (GII). That speed led her to a two length victory while getting the mile and an eighth in 1:483 over the CD main strip, labelled fast. Southern Two Step showed me wrong and stayed on to be second, in the four horse field.
The four females loaded quickly and were away in good order with Southern Two Step on the early gas, Nude Beach to her inside, Little Big Town on her outside and Jinxed Queen was the early trailer.
Swing around the clubhouse turn and on to the back stretch, Southern Two Step showing the way by three-quarters of a length, Nude Beach maintaining the rail and in hot pursuit of the leader. A gap of three lengths back to Little Big Town and Jinxed Queen was still last, seven lengths from the leader.
Now edging into the far turn and three and a half furlongs left to race, Nude Beach moved up the rail and into the lead. Southern Two Step on her flank and not going away, then a gap of three back to Little Big Town and Jinxed Queen could still see them all, now eight lengths separating the field.
Around the far turn and into the lane, they were nearing the furlong marker and Nude Beach had skipped away to lead by two. Southern Two Step looking for more, but just didn’t seem to have the answer, another three lengths back to Little Big Town and Jinxed Queen trailed.
Deep stretch and to the wire, this was all about Nude Beach as she cruised home to win by two. Southern Two Step continued on well to be second, a length in front of Little Big Town in third and Jinxed Queen closed this one out.
Nude Beach is a 4yo grey daughter of Extended Sunset – Girls Like Greys by Eastern Charge, and she was bred in NY by Aces High Ltd. This was her fifth win from fourteen starts, her second this season and first for the new stables since being purchased in the Sept Auction for $111.000. She now shows total earnings of $426.460 and that seems to be the tip of the iceberg for this one. Congratulations to Aer Stables and Nude Beach.
