  • It’s Whitney Weekend at The Spa

There are many big races going on this weekend, but none are bigger than the Grade 1 Whitney, taking place at SAR on Saturday. The race offers a ticket to the BC Classic with a cool $1,000.000 purse to be split amongst it’s top finishers. It’s one of those races that we all look forward to every year, and it has been won in the past by some truly great virtual horses.

  • Drinkin Creepin Back in Action in The Troy

Plenty is on the line Saturday for turf sprinters as 19th running of the Troy takes place at SAR. This race first appeared on the schedule in 2006 as a simple $65.000 ungraded race and has grown in stature since. It is now a Grade 3, getting that designation in 2018, and the $300.000 purse level was first reached in 2022.

  • Eight To the Gate in Hirsch Stakes

There are three races that are considered a “win and you’re in” stake for the BC Distaff, and we’ll have one of them on Saturday at DMR. It’s the 21st running of the Hirsch Stakes, sending fillies and mares a little more than a mile on the main track.

  • King Z Reigns Over Read Stakes

Typically, King Z has had a running style of being at or near the lead early at the start of the race, but on Sunday in the Read Stakes, that was not the plan. The post time favorite would begin the race near the back of the field this time, but would get the job done in the stretch to win the race by a length.

  • High Time Earns His BC Spot with Crosby Stakes Win

Back in February, High Time won the $100.000 Pelican Stakes at TAM, and little did we know then that the victory would begin a winning streak that would lead to High Time earning a spot in the BC Sprint.

  • One Last Punch Line Punches Out San Diego Handicap Competition

After a tough race in the Wise Dan, One Last Punch Line returned to the main track in hopes of getting back into the win column. He had won two of three before the Wise Dan, and is certainly not a stranger to running on the dirt. Despite that, he would be one of the longest shots on the board, at odds of 13/1.

  • Nine To Run in Read Stakes on Sunday

Sunday’s card at DMR will be highlighted by the 21st running of the Grade 2 Read Stakes, whch is a nine furlong race on the grass. When we first saw the race in 2003, it debuted for a $400.000 purse, but it has unfortunately only gone down since then.

  • TwinTowersRacing Looks for Third Straight San Diego Handicap Win

This Saturday out west, we will have 22nd edition of the San Diego Handicap at DMR, a Grade 2 that offers a $300.000 purse. It’s a race that has been kind to TwinTowersRacing in the past, as the trainer will be looking to pick up his third straight win in the race, and fifth overall.

  • BC Sprint Spot on The Line in Crosby Stakes

With the BC Sprint now just a little more than three months away, it’s time for a “win and you’re in” race here in the Grade 1 Crosby Stakes. This race first appeared on the schedule in 2004, and as you would expect, it has been run every year since than with the likes of Alpha Ultimo, Shoot Skyhigh, and Z One Chance (twice) visiting the winner’s circle at the end.

  • Little Trouble for Wasted Away in CCA Oaks

Fresh off a win in the KYO and a runner up in the Acorn, Wasted Away seemed like the one to beat in the CCA Oaks and was made our pick, but the bettors chose another one to make the post time favorite.
