Can Dan Patch Be The One In The Mazarine BC Stakes?

11/22/2020

2   WO   Mazarine BC Stakes (GIII)
                $125.000        2yo F        1 1/16m  Dirt         2yo 120lbs  +penalties

We have an excellent group of seven 2yo fillies headed to the gate on Sunday and we look at the field for the Mazarine BC Stakes (GIII) to be run at a mile and a sixteenth at WO. I am taking the far outside horse here as Dan Patch is a horse that is just screaming bet me!  She just missed at CD and KEE while facing some very good company and I just can’t get past her in this one.  Let’s go right next to her and take Carrie Ann in the second spot.  She won over this track last out and another one just like that should make her a contender here today.  This is a very nice group of fillies and we should be in for a heck of a battle.

Here’s The Field –

1
Tomahawks    Smokey Stover    Stein J   120

4/1

Broke maiden taking down a big purse vs. FLA-bred horses last out and she did it in front running style.  She’s never been off of the board in four races and look like she may be any type.  I’d giver her a serious look in this one as well.

2
Just My Imagination    Second Chance Farms    Contreras L   120

7/2

Three wins from five starts including a nice win vs. NY-bred horses last out, going wire-to-wire on that afternoon.  Even that fourth place finish vs. graded horses at CD was a solid race so you have to think she will be right in the middle of this one as well.

3
   Golden Palace    Rampage Stable    Wilson E J   120   10/1

Broke maiden at DMR two back then tired badly in the Alcibiades (GI) after setting the pace throughout in that one.  She also showed speed in her other two maiden races.  Will then show speed again?  Can she hold her speed here?  These are the questions that will be answered.

4
   Amalfi    D J C Racing Stables    Ryan S   120

10/1

She has a pair of wins at lower level meets and has been on the board in two of three NY-bred stakes including a third at BEL last out.  She has shown some speed and has come from way back, so instructions will be interesting today.

5
Red Riding Hood    Mb Stables    Hernandez R M   120

8/1

Won her first two starts but black type races have not been her friend.  Sixth at DMR and eighth last out here, but Mb doesn’t come to the races for nothing.  Look for her to get her act together and be in the hunt when the turn for home.

6
Carrie Ann    Crocker Ggs    Bahen S R   120

3/1

Maybe she has the race horse thing figured out.  She’s never been off of the board, broke maiden in her fourth start and won over this track last out taking the Glorious Song by a length.  A repeat of that should make her tough.

7
Dan Patch    Waldo    Husbands P   120

7/2

I like this filly and thought she would do better in the Alcibiades (GI) at KEE.  She just missed in the Pocahontas (GII) at CD prior to that and I expect her to be a big factor here today.
