Dan Patch Enjoys the Shorter Distance in Hendrie Stakes

There were several interesting stories in the Hendrie Stakes this year, given that many different paths were taken prior to getting to this race. The question would be which one of them would prevail, and we would get our answer on Saturday. The race would be won by Dan Patch, a horse that was last seen going ten furlongs and finishing poorly in the Alabama.

Nevada Silver Takes The Hill Prince Crown

Last month in the Grade 3 Saranac up at SAR, Nevada Silver struck gold by going wire to wire in the race for his first graded stake win. It was a close finish, and one of the horses he narrowly defeated was Flesh Of My Flesh. These two would have a rematch, and once again it would be Nevada Silver pulling off of the win.

Looking for Future Gold in Hendrie Stakes

It might seem late for the Hendrie Stakes, as this race which is normally run in June will be going to post in 2021 here in late October! It’s $150.000 purse has been restored this year after running for $25.000 less for the four previous years. As we often see in a race like this, there is some good variation in the paths that have been taken by the horses leading into the race.

Nine Go to Post for The Hill Prince

After running at a mile last year, for the first time since 2013, The Hill Prince returns to its nine furlong distance for the 2021 edition. The race also runs a little later this year, so while this has been a race that could send horses into the BC Turf with greater frequency, that may have affected the quality of the field a little bit.
