Eclipse My Knowledge Establishes New Track Standard in OP Mile

The Inaugural G3 OP Mile

April 2, 2022

$400.000 1-Mile

OP Race #1 Post Time 18:25

4YO and Up 122 Lbs

Track/Stakes Record-1:34.33 (Eclipse My Knowledge-2022)

Eclipse My Knowledge, sent off favored at odds of 1.70 to 1, was wide throughout the entirety of the G3 OP Mile.  The ground loss didn’t seem to affect the 7yo gelding as he took the $400.000 purse for the event’s debut with a determined three-quarters of a length score over Gran Z and Sunderland Til I Die.

Always three-to-four wide, Eclipse My Knowledge was on the outside of the first flight as Oleg, running from the rail, set the tempo through an opening quarter and half in :23.71 and :47.02, respectively.  Sunderland Til I Die got the jump on both Eclipse My Knowledge and Gran Z and had his nose in front at the quarter pole after he covered six furlongs in 1:10.35.

As Oleg began his retreat, the new leader was engaged by Eclipse My Knowledge to the outside and Gran Z on the inside.  Just a bit further back, Sexy Back appeared to find a seam between Oleg and Gran Z, and he looked to have plenty of run.  Sunderland Til I Die held off all challengers until the sixteenth pole when Eclipse My Knowledge, without a straw in his path, forged to the lead.  Shading 24-seconds for his final quarter, Eclipse My Knowledge established the stakes record and broke the track record with his time of 1:34.33.  Gran Z got up for the place as Sunderland Til I Die held off Sexy Back for the show honors.  Completing the order of finish were Tempestuous, Splash Mountain, Oleg, and Hollywood Revolution.

Eclipse My Knowledge has now earned $1,961.940 in a career that has seen him register 13 wins from 45 starts.  Congratulations to the horse and Nakamura Stables for winning the inaugural running of the G3 OP Mile!
