These older handicap types sure do like beating up on each other, but I think Charleys Latte is primed for a big string of races, and I’m sure Fractious is just fine with that, despite what seems to be a complete dispersal sale.  The black entire took the Whitney (GI) last out and came back to make more noise here in upstate NY, winning the JC Gold Cup (GI) by a length, stopping the timer in 2:002 for the classic mile and a half distance.  The SAR main course was listed as fast.   It was a great ride and a fantastic trip for the five year old, and he certainly made the most of it, moving up quickly at the furlong marker and kicking clear in the late stages.  Sensei set the pace throughout, but was overtaken at the furlong marker, and settled for the second spot.  Stolen ran another big race, passing a lot of horses in the late stages and taking a four-horse photo for the third spot.  Locamotive showed some much needed improvement, bringing home the minor money.

Charleys Latte is a 5yo black stud by Pinnacle West – Sweet Mama, by Chai Latte, and he was bred in Cal by Two Hearts One Love.  Purchase via private transaction back in April for $550.000, he now has eight lifetime wins from twenty-eight starts, and has earnings of $6,569.000.  Congrats to the Connections!

Charleys Latte tracked the early pace just in behind the leaders 2p, continued into the lane 2p engaging the leader at the furlong marker, pushed past, won driving.  Sensei broke alertly to set the pace to the furlong marker, headed, continued on gamely, second best.  Stolen off a step slow going 4p in the clubhouse turn, continued wide circling foes on the far outside far turn, wide trip cost a better finish.  Locamotive ground saving trip, no excuse, nosed for the show.  Sports Page raced mid-pack, 3p into the lane, no excuse.  Come To Poppa forced the pace 2p, moved to 4p for the drive, flattened out.  Eclipse My Knowledge even effort while no threat.  Need 4 Speed forwardly place to the top of the lane, tired.  Tempestuous raced mid-pack 2p to the far turn, swung out for the drive, nothing left.  Jolly Rock rated well off of the pace, passed tiring rivals.  He Needsa Manzillian was never involved.  Sunderland Til I Die showed little.  Safer Dab off a step slow, rushed up 5p backstretch, tired.  Day Of Black was outrun.
