Chicago Handicap is Wide Open

                               AP Race 1 7F – Dirt
                                  Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

A group of seven fillies will line up at AP for the Chicago Handicap named after the city where AP is located. A couple are dropping from grade ones and grade twos and a couple are jumping up from allowance level company. Let’s take a look at the field and see who the winner will be possibly.

1. Ineffable (15-3-5-4 $127.930), trained by TwinTowers Racing

This Mordred filly just ran a very big clunker on the soft turf on Preakness weekend and I think she won’t be running on that type of surface any time soon. Her form before that was pretty decent routing on the dirt but I’m not sure she is a sprinter. Wouldn’t necessarily be a shocker though if she won.

2. Baby Goes To Rio (12-3-2-1 $199.700), trained by Aml Racing

This filly has to be my pick based on the levels she is dropping from. She didn’t run too bad last time in the mud in the grade one Humana Distaff where she only got beat by three lengths. The time before that she ran second by a head in another grade two so I think she will be very tough to beat.

3. Validation (16-5-3-3 $279.280), trained by Team 7 Illusions

This filly has been running on the turf in some of her recent starts and she won on a good turf course at PIM. I don’t how good she is and if she can win but she looks like she like to run on the turf and going long. She also wouldn’t be one that really shocked me but I don’t think it will happen.

4. Cats Landing (10-5-3-0 $136.300), trained by D J C Racing Stables

This filly from the wizards stables has been running on the turf as of late but she is a stakes winner on the dirt just four back. She is a winner at this distance six outside ago so she likes this distance. I think she can win if she improves off her last race and runs a pretty big race and everything goes right.

5. Rented Mule (9-3-1-2 $188.760), trained by Angelos Stable

Probably the most consistent fully in the field she finally stepped up to graded stake company last out and handle it very well running second in the Desert Stormer. Before that she won a statebred stake impressively so she is definitely a very nice filly and has a good chance to win this race.

6. Lucifers Wings (17-5-4-3 $62.260), trained by Paradise Stable

The least experienced horse in the field by far she is a stakes winner but at PM going around two turns. I mean she is a good filly but I don’t know if she is this quality because she has never really been tested at this level except for last time when she ran fourth in a grade three. She will have to run huge in my opinion to win.

7. Theatre Music (16-3-6-6 $320.700), trained by Smokey Stover

You know if this statebred form she has can transfer at all to this handicap she will definitely be a very tough horse to beat. I just don’t know how that form will translate so she is kind of a shot in the dark really. I do think she is a good filly though and she has a chance to win if those statebred races mean anything.

Summary

A very, very wide open field for the Chicago Handicap here as I think any of the seven can win it actually. My top selection is going to be Baby Goes To Rio and then after I will probably have to go with Rented Mule and then Theatre Music. Good luck to all the connections and let’s hope everyone has a good race.
