How they ran.
Darling Smile started in second and improved position to take up the lead going a length clear of the field, closed down in the final furlong holding on to win by a quarter of a length.
Unforgiving started in third dropped back to race in fourth then ran on to be closing at the finish to finish second.
Hold Your Applause settled near the rear of the field five lengths off the pace then ran on strongly to finish third beaten by half a length.
Girl With Red Shoes started and raced in fifth dropping back into sixth before running on to dead heat for fourth in the final furlong.
Rollergirl started in fourth then improved position into third dropping back into fourth in the final furlong only to be caught on the wire to dead heat for that position.
Romantic Nebraska settled at the rear of the field six lengths off the pace then ran on strongly making up five lengths but still finished sixth.
Cape Velvet started first and was passed by every horse in the race to finish last of the seven runner beaten by three lengths.
