Glorious Song Stakes
$125.00 For Fillies Two Years Old
7 Furlongs – Dirt
Woodbine – October 11, 2026
As forecast, the rain came to Canada on Sunday and it gave twelve two year old fillies a good tack to deal with over the seven furlongs of the Glorious Song Stakes. When all the running was done Death Certificate was the one who hit the wire first so it is only appropriate to get right to the post mortem of the race.
Was unhurried from the break and Walcott allowed her to settle towards the back of the back of the field while Blue But True and Coronada set the pace up front early. Began to find her stride moving into the far turn. Found the perfect spot to take advantage of the seas parting at the top of the stretch and put her head in front with a half furlong to go. Finished strongly and was clear of the field at the wire. Convincing win.
Winner: Death Certificate
Owner/Trainer: John Henry
Jockey: R.W. Walcott
Breeder: John Henry (Fla) – State Police/Death Of Origins (Solar System)
Second: Big Tipper
Owner/Trainer: TwinTowersRacing
Jockey: E.J. Wilson
Breeder: TwinTowersRacing (Cal) – Tipping Point/Build A Wall (Floodgates)
Took back from her outside post position and was allowed to trail the field. She was sitting in tenth at the halfway point five lengths behind the leaders. Swung wide around the far turn and took the worst of the positioning, having to rally widest of all. She ran down all but the winner and was clearly second best.
Third: Calm Carol
Owner/Trainer: Jokerjoes
Jockey: L. Salles
Breeder: Lemax Farms (Cal) – Carlsen/Brits Calm (Calm Command)
Was roused from her wide post position eleven to take up a stalking position early. She used the long backstretch to move closer to the rail and sat fourth as they entered the far turn. She moved strongly entering the stretch and appeared to be a main contender but was unable to withstand the charge of the top two finishers although she was able to wear down Blue But True in the final strides to take third gaining black type in her first stakes try.
Fourth: Blue But True
Owner/Trainer: Mb Stables
Jockey: S. Chernetz
Breeder: Barcelona Farms (Cal) – High State/Creepy Blue Party (Creepy Time)
Was keen out of the gate and engaged early with Coronada to set the pace early. Battled to the trree furlong pole when Coronada began to weaken and Blue But True began to open some daylight on the field. She was the clear leader into the stretch and did her best to hang on in the last furlong but the closers had too much left and Blue But True gave way late after having done all the hard work throughout.
