The CD (Grade 1)- $1,000.00 Purse
CD- For Four Year Olds and Upward
Seven Furlongs on the Dirt
May 2, 2026
With such a strong field lined up for the CD, a competitive race was expected, and we would get exactly that. While most of the pick ‘em selections for the race went to Electric, both Diametric and Superbush were well picked as well. Those two would be the ones doing the battle all the way to the wire, and in the end, it would be Diametric that would prevail. It’ll be the second win in a row, and fourth in total, for trainer Mb Stables. Jockey J R Velazquez has been aboard for all four of those wins and has five in total. Congratulations to them! The time of the race was a blistering 1:20.72, a new stake record by a full two tenths of a second. Let’s take a look at it now:
(1/4 Mile- :22.52)- From the outside, Universal Speed goes to the front for Babyhead, and he will be joined there by Superbush, who’s out of Acber Farms. There’s a group of four right behind them, and on the inside, our eventual winner from Mb Stables, Diametric, has a very nice position right now, and is a half-length ahead of the other three. On the outside, Spankys Barn’s Gold runs fourth, while between horses, General Zod (Royalty Stables) and Capiche (Ajm Stables) run with them. Electric (Angelos Stable) runs directly behind General Zod, while Agent Zero (Mb Stables) is nearby to his outside. Wild Girl (Delta Farms) is next on the rail, and the trailer is Eight West Party (TwinTowersRacing).
(Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- At the top of the turn, Universal Speed and Superbush are still running out on front, and there is not much separating them. Diametric is able to pull ahead of the other three that he had been running with, and still remains glued to the rail. Within the turn, Superbush would be able to put away Universal Speed and now looked to take it home in the stretch. Diametric had maintained his margin to the frontrunner, and with Universal Speed now falling out of it, he’d be able to come off the rail without any trouble to make his run on the leader. Meanwhile, General Zod was looking to make a three wide move on them, but neither of Capiche or Elecrtic were making any progress. Agent Zero and Wild Girl looked to make runs of their own, as Gold dropped out and Eight West Party still trailed.
(Finish- 1:20.72)- With a furlong to go, Superbush looked strong enough to where dropping out of the top two would not be a problem. Unfortunately for him, Diametric was keeping pace with him and trying to get even closer. Still, it looked like Superbush might be able to hang on, but bear in mind Diametric is a horse who’s been running a mile regularly, so he should have plenty left in the tank. Getting closer to the wire, Diametric would respond to J R Velazquez’s urging, and while Superbush did all he could, it would not be enough. Diametric would get up in time to grab the win, while Superbush settles for second. It’s a length to third place General Zod who gets that spot in a photo with Agent Zero. Missing out on a check will be Wild Girl, a disappointing Electric, Eight West Party, Capiche, Universal Speed, and eventually, Gold.
About The Winner- Diametric, trained by Mb Stables and ridden to victory by J R Velazquez, is a five-year-old gelding by Inside Draw and is out of Brittle Sin. He was bred by Barcelona Farms in a California as a first quarter two-year-old and was acquired by Mb Stables for $100.00 in February 2024. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his eighth in 22 starts and his third stake win, all of which are graded. His career earnings are now $1,448.42.
