Dwindle Impresses in The Remsen

The Remsen – Grade II [KYD]
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $250.000 Open 2 Year Olds.

1st        Dwindle         Mb Stables      Franco M

I made a bit of a school boy error in writing up this race by overlooking this one a little on the evidence of one run. He was pretty poor in the breeders Futurity and rather than putting that run down to the draw (which i tend to do without trying) i thought that perhaps that after toiling in 11th and losing ground that he didn’t stay the trip. Clearly after sauntering home by three very easy lengths over nine furlongs today my assumption was very wrong and brings to mind that old saying about the word assume. By the break out stallion Sweet Sweat, a son of Cherokee Sunset, he looked very inch a TC prospect after adding the Remsen to his equally impressive Nashua win. I have no doubt by next March he will be one of about ten TC prospects in the stable but at this stage he will go into the Christmas break as a very live prospect indeed.

2nd      Hardline Cobra       TwinTowersRacing       Ryan S

The stable is enjoying a fine run of form and this busy son of Hardline ran a cracker to be second albeit clearly beaten by the winner. He ran on really well to be second from a sticky draw and he too will go into the break with the hopes of the stable behind him.

3rd        Blasphemy     Mb Stables         Bahen S R

Just when you think the champion is having a bad run he pops up with two more TC prospects. This one who ran fifth in the BC Juvenile after going on the pace tried the same again here although never quite made the lead. He ended up weakening into third but at 15.2hh there does seemed to be some growth to come and with size we tend to see improved stamina in horses at HRP.

4th=   Declassification      Smokey Stover       Saez L

The stable tends to send their horses onto the pace with the new race engine and this one led out of the gate and set a decent pace. He struggled a little at the end of the Coronation Futurity using the same tactics and dd so again today falling away and ending up just holding onto some compensation in a share for fourth.

4th=     Disciplinary       Fractious       Baird E T

This one still looks a shade expensive at the $550 he cost two races back ending up sharing fourth after a bit of a one paced effort,
