ELP Race #11 $200.000 11/8 Dirt

3YO 122 Lbs (Plus Penalties)

Track Record-1:47.84 (Sannys On Fire-2015)

Stakes Record-1:47.90 (Electric-2021)

After several near-misses in conditioned ALW races, and for the first time in his career, Electric was offered-up for a $30.000 tag on July 16 at SAR.  After crossing the wire in 1:08.79, there was a red tag placed on the winner’s halter indicating that someone had dropped in a claim for him.  Fifteen days later, Electric ran a good 2nd in a SAR ALW going 9-furlongs.  Another 15-days later, he found himself a convincing winner of the $200.000 ELP Derby; safe to say that Angelos Stable is happy he was the only HRP trainer that ponied-up the $30.000 on the 3yo gelding last month.

Racing in the middle of a stalking trio, Electric sat two lengths behind the Nakamura Stables-trained duo of Cuban Moon and Campaign Manager through an opening quarter in :24.20.  As the horses reached the midpoint of the backstretch, not much had changed as the leaders clicked-off a half-mile in :47.92.

Throughout the far turn, Campaign Manager started getting the better of his stablemate as he reached three-quarters in 1:11.71.  Cuban Moon was under pressure on the rail as Accountant looked to make a sweeping five-wide move from third.  At the 3/16 pole, the entire five horse field was separated by two lengths as Electric split horses and drove to the front.  On his outside, Accountant was still running strong with Southern Speed getting involved while putting in an even wider run.  In less than five jumps, Electric spurted free and put a length between himself and Accountant.

Through the stretch, Electric continued to inch clear of his rivals.  Southern Speed was keeping him in sight, but he was only able to pass Accountant as that runner labored through the stretch.  At the wire, Electric was almost two lengths clear of Southern Speed as that rival got home a half-length in front of Accountant.  It was another three lengths back to the maiden Great Command in fourth.

Electric (Neon Wolf o/o Manifest) improves to 11-4-3-1 with the win and has now earned $215.810 in his career.  His winning time of 1:47.90 established the stakes record and he was only .06 from equaling Sannys On Fire‘s track record.  Angelos Stable took his first ELP Derby victory and J.K. Court became the 2nd jockey to win this race.  Congratulations to Electric and Angelos Stable on their victory in the $200.000 ELP Derby
