Very few things are agreed upon, here at HRP…  I think we can all agree that Expert Eye does not like two turns, but man oh man, is he one heck of a sprinter.  Sent off at 15/1 odds in Saturday’s BC Sprint (GI), which seemed remarkable to me since he was third in this race last season and had been on the board in all four ’22 sprint races, the Twin TowersRacing stallion stayed close to the early pace, moved up at will and went right on by to win by a length in a final time of 1:093 for the six furlongs, on the main KEE oval, listed as Good.  Aladdins Genie kept the double-digit-fest going, running second at 23/1, then a neck back to Carnoustie at almost 13/1, and Puppet Master was a length back in fourth at 20/1.

The field loaded into the gate on the backside and were away in good order with no lack of speed with four horses going after it… Chip Away between horses, Puppet Master from the outside, down to the rail for Shifu Tan and Street Edge in the three path, all showing good early foot.  Just in behind that group, Carnoustie, Crypto on his outside and Expert Eye on his inside, then Aladdins Genie, Ginger Clean and Sweet Sweet Sweet, then the trailing foursome of Rogue Commando, King Pigeon, Iron Mine and Demon.

They made their way down the back stretch and were moving into the far turn with five sixteenths of a mile to run, Puppet Master up on the outside to take a short lead, Shifu Tan using the rail as his friend in second, Chip Away next to that one and Street Edge still with that lead group.  A gap back to Expert Eye on the inside of Carnoustie, Crypto on the outside in that group, then another length and a half to Aladdins Genie, Sweet Sweet Sweet on the rail, Ginger Clean  and Iron Mine caught wide.  King Pigeon was next, Demon, and Rogue Commando could see them all.

Around the far turn and into the lane, they moved past the three sixteenth pole and Puppet Master was trying to put this one away, in front by a length and a half.  Chip Away not going away, Street edge trying edge forward and Shifu Tan on the inside.   Expert Eye cut the corner and was trying to shoe-horn is way up the rail, Carnoustie with a clear shot, Crypto out in the middle of the track and trying to find more, Aladdins Genie, Sweet Sweet Sweet on his inside, then Ginger Clean, King Pigeon, Rogue Commando, Demon and Iron Mine.

Inside the final sixteenth and to the finish, Puppet Master starting to drift out a bit and Expert Eye had found the room to get through on the rail and was now on level terms and obviously moving fastest of all… Carnoustie and Aladdins Genie also moving forward as Chip Away and Street Edge were stuck in place… but with the wire in sight, this was all about Expert Eye as he was ridden to perfection and pulled the upset win, going under the wire in front by a widening length.  Aladdins Genie showed a great late kick to grab the place, with Carnoustie in third.  Puppet Master flattened about late but grab the fourth place minor share, with a bang-bang-bang finish of noses, Crypto in fifth, Demon in sixth and Sweet Sweet Sweet seventh.  Chip Away was a neck back in eighth, Ginger Clean ninth, Street Edge a disappointing tenth, Shifu Tan eleventh, a dead-heat between Rogue Commando and King Pigeon in twelfth and Iron Mine was fourteenth.

Expert Eye is a 6yo entire by Commanding – Nipponosaurus, by Charley Farley, and he was bred by Blushing Meadows in NY.  Acquired by Twin TowersRacing in Sept of 2019 for $125.000, he now has eleven wins from thirty-eight starts, this w    as his second win of the year, and he now shows $2,673.510 in lifetime earnings.  Congrats to the Connections!
