Field of Ten Set for Canadian Stakes

                        The Canadian Stakes- GII
                          WO Race 3 1 1/8M- Turf
                               Purse $250.000
Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

A good sized field of ten fillies and mares will be lining up for the grade two Canadian Stakes up north at Woodbine Racetrack. Nine of the ten are coming out of stakes races and that only lonely runner is coming out of an allowance race. It is a good field and it should be a pretty exciting race.

1. Sweet Gail (12-5-2-1 $323.600), trained by Sccj Stables

Here is a graded stakes winner right here and she did win a grade three two races back. She didn’t run too good last time at Saratoga but the was on a soft track so my guess is that she didn’t like that at all. If the track is firm I definitely think she has a chance but she will have to run big to do it.

2. Tornado Warning (9-2-4-1 $204.110), trained by Mb Stables

Well here is a filly who has proven that she likes this turf course before because she won her last start her going a mile and a quarter in a statebred stakes race. She won by a neck that day and was pretty much on the lead most of the way. I’m not sure how she stacks up but she migh have a chance.

3. Feel The Thunder (20-6-4-1 $465.770), trained by Mb Stables

The second of three runners from Mb Stables and this filly is coming off of a fourth place finish in the grade two Ballston Handicap. She ran fourth that day by three lengths in a five horse field and before that she ran second at Delaware Park in a graded stakes race. She will have to run huge to win here.

4. Musical Treat (17-8-2-2 $1,377.110), trained by Mb Stables

Definitely what I would call the first stringer for the three horse charge from Mb Stables is this runner right here. She is coming off of a third place finish in the grade one Diana at Saratoga last out. Before that she won a grade two and seems to be doing pretty good. She will be tough in here for sure.

5. Ghost Runner (24-5-7-1 $1,514.800), trained by Sizing Europe Lodge

Here is what looks like the speed of the field because she goes to the front almost every single time she races. She did try to come from off of it in the Diana at Saratoga but she was out of the money that day and then came back to win in front running style last out. She needs to have it her own way.

6. Maggie Greene (16-5-3-2 $433.160), trained by The Sidley Stud

Now here’s a filly who is on a roll right here as she is coming into this race off of two grades stakes wins in a row. One of them was here at Woodbine and the other one was at Saratoga. If she keeps running like she has been that gives her a pretty good chance to win this little race right here.

7. Moon Car (10-3-1-2 $114.520), trained by Crocker Ggs

Well her is a filly who just ran her first career race on turf last out in the grade three Regret at Churchill Downs where she went wire to wire to win by two lengths that day. Obviously she liked the move to the turf but she is still kind of unknown on the surface so she is basically a wildcard for me.

8. She Makes The Grade (17-7-2-3 $97.090), trained by TwinTowers Racing

The only one in the field that is not coming out of a stakes race but she is coming out of an allowance race at least which she did win at Monmouth. She is going to have to improve a whole lot to win because that wasn’t nearly as tough of a race as this is. I just don’t think she is this quality.

9. Alligator (14-4-1-2 $399.800), trained by Maxmillion Farm

One of the three year olds in the field but she is a pretty nice filly. She is coming off of a third place finish in the grade one Del Mar Oaks where she only got beat by a length. She also ran fourth in the Diana against older horses so I think if she runs a very big race she could have a chance to win.

10. Devil Wears Prada (47-13-8-8 $2,615.780), trained by Axeman

The old class mare of the field is this one right here. She is coming off of a win in the grade two Yellow Ribbon Handicap at Del Mar last out. She is just a very classy mare and she knows how to win races for sure. I think she is ready to rumble and I am going to make her my top pick in this race.

Summary

Well this looks like a pretty tough race right here and I think it will be an exciting on for sure. My top pick is going to be the old class mare on the outside and that is Devil Wears Prada. I just think she is a pretty good mare and she will be ready to go in here. Good luck to everyone in this race.
