Five Fillies in Hilltop at PIM – PREVIEW

5/15/15 Post Time 2:50pm

RACE 6 PIM    The Hilltop Stakes     1  1/16m   Turf

$100.000   3yoF

Sophomore Fillies will be taking to the turf course in the 2015 Hilltop Stakes, to be run over the PIM turf course at the mile and one sixteenth distance.  The Hilltop is long gone (you couldn’t see the horses on the back stretch) but the name has always stuck at the Baltimore track… and this group will represent the history well.

Here’s the Field…

1
Princess Jasmin  Halo Thoroughbreds  Albarado R J 124

The bad news for this one is she hasn’t seen the winner’s circle since November of last season… the good news is she’s close in pretty much every single start.  Back to back seconds v. turf horses, and just missed last out over this strip when going the sprinters 5f.  She looks like the extra distance should fit her and I look for a big run from her.

2
 Hopscotch Queen  Ubetracing.com  Velazquez J R 124

Back to back wins and she’s been off the board one time in her career, and that was prior to being taken via the hostile takeover in her second start.  Since then it’s four wins and four seconds so you know she can get it.  That wire to wire win on soft footing sure does have my eye with the weather forecast!

3
Barbaresca  Chili King Stables  Russell S 122

Another that is about as consistent as you could ever hope for, although she’s only got that maiden victory, two races ago.  Just missed after doing all of the heavy lifting at SA last out v. CA-bred, which has been her bread-and-butter.  Having that longer race under her belt could help here today.

4
Trance The River  Hippyheart  Camacho E 122

Nice closing effort at today’s distance when second in the Memories of Silver at AQU last out.  She won three in a row prior to that, and that’s a good thing!  I’m not happy that she has no posted work since Feb 24th.  I’m sure she’s getting plenty of attention at the farm.

5
Good News  Wild Aces Stables  McCarthy T 122

She was rolling along picking up checks left and right, then through a dud last out over the SA turf course.  Blew out nicely at PRX in preparation for this one, so let’s just pitch that effort out the door and look for better here.
