Fractious “Kills” in Kennedy Road Stakes at WO

WO  1    Kennedy Road Stakes (GII)
   $175.000    3yo&Up     3yo 120  Older 123  +penalties

The Green Card is handicapping well right now and nails another as the Fractious trained Kill Command gets the job done at 10/1 odds and take the Kennedy Road Stakes (GII) at WO by a neck in a final time of 1:09.05 for the six panels.  Johannes was second, a neck in front of In Captivity for third and Sharp Azteca was fourth in the field of nine.

The field was sent away from the gate with Junior and Johannes wanting the lead, side by side, a length back to Sharp Azteca giving chase, and Red Cup along the rail.  Another length back to Lots Of Pride, Shanghai Days on his outside, Kill Command next to that one, then another length to Caydens Camel and In Captivity was the early trailer.

Continuing down the backside and nearing the far turn with three and a half furlongs to run, Johannes now showing the way by a length, Junior with the rail position, then a line-up of three that included Sharp Azteca between horses, Red Cup on the rail and Kill Command on the outside.  Another length, Lots Of Pride then Shanghai Days to his outside, In Captivity three wide and Caydens Camel was the rear marker.

Around the far turn and into the lane, nearing the furlong marker and Johannes was now in front by two lengths, Junior looking weary along the rail and Kill Command now edging forward.  Sharp Azteca was to his inside, In Captivity full of run and widest of all then Red Cup asking to pick it up and the rest had a lot of work to do to be part of this one.

Deep stretch and down to the wire, Johannes lead was dwindling quickly as Kill Command was in full stride and In Captivity flying late… and as they hit the wire, Kill Command got the job done by a neck over Johannes.  In captivity was another quarter length back in third with Sharp Azteca in fourth.  They couldn’t separate Lots Of Pride from Caydens Camel for the fifth spot, a tiring Junior in seventh, Shanghai Days in eighth and Red Cup closed this one out.

Kill Command is a 3yo gelded son of Always Dreaming – Red Princess, by Chinese Assassin and he was bred in PA by Joshua Stables.  Acquired via the claim box for $20.000, this was his sixth win, five this season, and he now shows earnings of $372.530.  Congratulations to Fractious and Kill Command.
