Field of Four in Falls City Handicap at CD

CD 5     Falls City Hcp (GII)

  $250.000    3yo&Up F&M      1 1/8m    Dirt   Hcp Weights

It’s a small field for the 2019 Falls City Hcp (GII) but the purse is nice and the field has a ton of ability.  I took Little Big Town as my top choice in this one.  The D J C Racing trained 3yo has been very consistent of late and has two wins in her last four races.  She just missed last out and if she has any hole, it’s the change from sprinting to the mile and an eighth distance.  I think she’s ready to steam roll and get the win.  If she’s not the one, then I’ll take Nude Beach…  she’s another that has been consistent all season and looked solid in her first start for the new barn.  That was a loaded group of horses at KEE and I may wish I’d put her on top before the day is done.

Here’s the Field –

1

 Nude Beach

 Aer Stables

 Beschizza A

3/1

Closed well to be third in the Spinster (GI) at KEE in her most recent start.  She only has one win this season, an Alw race back in April, but she was also third in the DEL Hcp (GII) so she’s certainly shown that she has class and ability.  I’d certainly give her a big chance in this one.

2

 Southern Two Step

 The Sidley Stud

 Bejarano R

119

7/1

She’s still looking for her first win of ’19 and her two thirds came back in the spring.  Both of those were against graded foes, but her recent form has left a bit to be desired.  After winning five of six starts as a 2yo, you just have to wonder if she has anything left in the tank.

3

 Little Big Town

 D J C Racing Stables

 Gaffalione T

119

4/5

Hate the band, love the horse.  She’s been on the board in seven of nine starts and just missed last out when third a neck in the ONT Fashion Stakes (GIII) at WO.  Her three season wins proves she knows how to get the job done and I think this one sets-up for another picture taking moment.

4

 Jinxed Queen

 Smokey Stover

 Velazquez J R

120

5/1

Not much out of her last outing when she was seventh in the fore-mentioned Spinster (GI).  She won at first asking for the new barn after being sold for $400.000, so you know the barn loves her and she could bounce back and be a serious factor if she can get back to the same form as that Locust Grove (GIII) victory.
